It's smaller than it looks, service was okay not totally attentive. Food that I had seemed just thrown together. I had argentinian sausage and eggs but the sausage wasn't that flavorful, and it was broke up in chunks and just thrown in it seemed, not combined like chorizo. Maybe that's the way it came but wondered if maybe I looked American, and just improvised. Also there was no desciption of what or how they prepared it. I thought i would be getting eggs over easy, or at least a choice, but i got scrambled. The sweet bread was nice. Also they do dont have a sign to their restaurant, it's a sign for something else, another building on the property. They do have bathrooms, but know that they don't have toilet seets. None of the bathrooms that I went into had them. And bring your own toilet paper just in case. Overall not totally impressed with la caverna, and they didnt have the candle thing they tout on the youtube. There was another part of the cave that seemed to be blocked off by a fence where the rest might have been. Because it seemed bigger on you tube, and...
Read moreAmong the worst. We were several parties at a large table. Everyone’s food came at a different time, and two people waited more than a half hour for their meal. The food was mediocre, if I’m being generous. Watery jamaica, meat too tough to cut with the dull butter knives they gave us, parts of the meal were cold.
Then came the problem with the bill. The waitress had agreed to four separate checks but it turned out that she had gotten everything confused and couldn’t tell whose food was whose. She and another waitress came back and asked us to repeat our orders, which it appeared she had finally separated correctly. Twenty minutes later four people were still standing at the register, stabbing at the computer screen, unable to give us our bills.
The restaurant has posted a sign that says, “If your bill is incorrect, your meal is free.” But they still insisted that everyone pay.
If you’re on a tour that insists on taking you to this place (there were many tour vans and busses in the lot), don’t take it. If you’re on your own, you’ve...
Read moreTLDR: unique place, great service, very good food and you can try local alcohol for free. the restaurant can be reached on foot about 15 minutes from tetihuacan. I recommend renting a quad. the restaurant is located in a unique place in a cave. waiters explain exactly what they serve. food comes quickly. I recommend ordering a monthly pot. You will be able to try several delicious types. Additionally, local tortillas and a portion of grilled vegetables are free. the pot will contain local cacti, i.e. nopales. which I especially recommend trying. This is a large dish, I recommend ordering it for two people first and then ordering more. after all, the restaurant serves locally produced alcohol for free, from what I remember, one type is made from agave and the other from rice. I highly recommend it, a unique experience, a...
