This place is amazing! Such a diamond in the rough here. The ambiance is fabulous and our meals were delicious - Best tuna tartare I’ve ever had. We are definitely adding it to our list of must-goes every time we are in Telchac.
I saw other reviews compliment the great service but our experience was the opposite. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe it was our guy’s first night, or the fact that we were American threw him off. He seemed extremely uninterested in us and like he was intentionally ignoring us. When he brought our food, there was no silverware. We waited patiently for a long time and then I started trying to flag him (waving my arm). He would seem to look right at us and then go to other tables. After a long while I walked up to the bar and got our own. We wanted a second drink but he never came around to check on us. Long after our meal was over I started waving once again for him for our check. Again it seemed he saw me several times but always looked away. Finally another waiter sent him to us.
As stated, everything else was beyond wonderful and I’m sure this was a fluke but I hope they will train him better for this position. And other than that, we...
Read moreIt’s very clearly oriented towards tourists, offering well presented food that tastes mediocre. The service was also subpar, We ordered a juice, soda and lemonade when we ordered our food. When we got the juice only, we asked for the other drinks again. After asking a third time, the soda came. After asking 5 times for the lemonade, and 3 times for napkins we had neither by the time we finished our food. The food isn’t bad, with the exception of the Aguachiles Verde which while presented nicely, was seasoned with a store bought sauce I’ve seen in the US. However given how many local restaurants there are in town, 2 minutes down the road, that have more authentic food, cheaper prices and better service I’d recommend any of the places around the town square or on the street adjacent...
Read morePalmarena is a bad neighbor. I was excited when they opened, but they play music much too loud till very late at night in an area of all houses. I can hear it with all my windows shut and headphones on, and I live half a block away. Recently I had guests and we decided to eat there. One person liked their beef tacos, and the cocktails were creative and tasty. My shrimp dinner had a nice salad, but several of my shrimp were too soft and mushy, either overcooked or bad, and I didn’t like the potatoes. The other person didn’t like the cheesy shrimp tacos they got - they should have read the menu more carefully. They did a nice job turning a house into a cute restaurant space, but they need to be more considerate of their neighbors. (I’ve asked them to turn the music down,...
