Decent stop for dinner after visiting the Tajín Ruins, close by.
We visited on December 30th and they were pretty understaffed which explains why the service was incredibly slow and the michelada that I ordered was just an empty glass with the rim of salt, not even lime juice or salsas. The owner himself was waiting the tables and taking orders, so go figure.
Food was pretty good, though.
We ordered camarones al ajillo (which my wife and mother in law absolutely loved), cecina enchilada de cerdo and cecina natural de res both served with a side of 4 enchiladas and Salad.
I'm assuming their service is far better on a regular day and not so close to New Year's Eve, so I'd give them another chance later on.
The owner was a nice man, he even took the time to give us suggestions and always had a smile...
Read moreWe only stopped because we saw the sign for rabbit "conejo". We thought it would be a tourist trap rip-off, but we were pleasantly surprised when the food was excellent. I did get the rabbit, served with a chile and garlic sauce. The sauce was amazing, the rabbit a bit dry. According to the owner, they were free range, raised by monks in the mountains, but who knows, but because of the backstory, I won't ding them. My wife had the chicken served with three moles, my favorite the squash seed mole. All three were amazing though. Don't forget to try their homemade hot chocolate. And when I say homemade, I mean like hand ground beans! Abuelitas sucks...
