We stopped by for lunch after visiting Ek Balam and the nearby cenote because of a really lovely review we read online in a travel blog post and were really warmly welcomed by tia Irma and her husband. They were extremely sweet and accommodating. We got to try handmade tacos made from the corn they grow filled with typical local fillings - banana with onion, chaya with egg, and cochinita pibil, as well as some refreshing cold coconut. We had a long conversation with the owners - who have been married for forty years and grew up in the area - and they were the loveliest humans! So warm, generous and engaging.
