Little gem a bit hidden. I found this restaurant while looking for places to eat around where I work. This restaurant is part of a hotel. Inside is beautiful and the food was excellent. Service was very good as well. The only thing I didn't like was the woman at the gate before you enter the hotel. She was not very friendly and asked us if we had a reservation. We said, no and she said that if we didn't have a reservation, we can't go in. She didn't even bother asking her supervisor if we could go in. After insisting several times to ask her supervisor, then she did and we were asked to get in. The restaurant was empty. I don't understand why the woman at the gate wouldn't let us in. Besides that incident, everything was great. We even had a trio singing for us while we ate. Great experience. After lunch, we walked around the hotel and it's actually very big. A wedding ceremony was going to take place in one of the areas. Next time, I might stay one night to see how the rooms are. Highly...
Read moreWe had reserved weeks before for an evening dinner short before Christmas at a Friday night. Suspiciously, we (4 people) were the only guests at 18:30. When we sat and expected to get the menu to see, they brought a one page photocopy of the breakfast offering. We first thought, this was an error or a joke, but were told, the breakfast "menu" is the only choice they have. The birthday dinner for my wife has been entirely spoilt. Embarrassing situation towards our friends, too. It has been the worst experience ever visiting a restaurant in any country. The website is full of praise of the excellent Yucatan cuisine in this restaurant. Reality is, they obviously didn't have staff to prepare a dinner. If they had let us known beforehand, we would have cancelled, but they let us travel from Playa del Carmen to Merida for offering us nothing more than the...
Read moreWe were welcomed by Fernando Vargas and Antonio who provided an excellent service from the moment we entered. While waiting for the food, Fernando provided a fascinating story of how the restaurant and the entire hacienda have existed since 1640 and how it started as a Franciscan Monastery and later became an Henequen fiber making hacienda. We strongly recommend any items from the menu, they are all delicious and again (the vibe of the place combined modern luxury with history), the customer service is amazing! We are definitely...
