TL;DR: if you are in the area you owe it to yourself to eat here (also ask to be served by Marko)
The service: Marko was incredible, with a good sense of humor, great serviceability, and impeccable English, everything was correct on time, and with a smile (change requests were happily obliged, and in general WOW).
The food: We had sirloin steak, Trout, mixed meats platter, shopska salad and garden salad. All the dishes were above and beyond what we expected, and I would recommend each one of them (all dishes are big, but the meat platter is a bigger dish so be hungry), so compliments to the kitchen, but also the vegetables in the salads were crisp and fresh, so compliments to whomever shops for them as well.
In general the only regret we have is that we found this place on our last day at Zabljak, so we won't get to enjoy it again.

Read moreHeaded here on a cold snowy evening in April, a little way out of town but the reviews were promising. Greeted warmly by waiter Marko who held the door open for us, and who’s service was attentive, skilled and very polite. The peasant meat (a simple pork stew) and kachamak (course polenta style dish with cheese) were hearty and delicious, the grilled vegetables a simple but appropriate side dish. The fermented cow milk yoghurt was delicious to accompany all the dishes, especially the kachamak. The food was fresh and homely. We tried two local beers as Marko recommended and the Mammut beer from Nikšić was a clear standout. Can’t recommend Izvor enough; a cosy wooden style restaurant perfect on a cold evening, with views to die for during the day. A must for your...

Great and tasty food. The highlight was lamb (cooked 3x and then baked), which was incredibly succulent and we also had cold appetizer plate, soup, local version of beignets, maize porridge, etc. Draft Niksicko beer, of course.
Exceptional service. The maitre de and our waiter were excellent. Quick, kind and yet not intrusive. We are a Serbian-speaking family but we could hear them speak very good English with foreign tourists.
Beautiful venue. Interior was built all in wood, with some tables featuring typical montenegrin chairs.
Great location. Just on the side of the main road and outside of Zabljak. Plenty of parking space.
Not expensive. Prices were very fair for the quantity and...
