Restoran Protokol — Restaurant in Podgorica

Its their third anniversary today, as treated to a drink (yet again), I'm leaving a well overdue review. Protokol has the best service of any restaurant in Podgorica, where all staff will cater to any request and go beyond. It has a quiet well-designed large terrace for all weather (partly covered, powered heaters, shade curtains, collapsable windows, power points for devices), comfortable internal space with a great private dining space for small groups. The owner really cares, and is typically on site. Bar and breakfast menus cover any budget, with an a la carte menu and seperate clothed table area for a proper wine and dine experience. Consistently delivered good food and a great range of local wines, brandies, rakjia. The breakfasts are served until 1pm, start at 4 EUR and offer some good veggie options - unlike many restaurants, the waiting staff and kitchen are always willing to accommodate changes and level of cooking to suit foreign tastes, and staff even remember for next time. Its well worth asking which menu items comes with a bread basket, as they don't specify on the menu, as a good variety including soft rye and corn. A perfect place for a morning coffee, quick snack, long brunch, even longer lunch, celebratory drinks with friends, or a four course meal. Mornings get busy around 10:30, and evenings are worth...

When we go inside the restaurant the waiter asked if we came for having dinner. We said yes as it was around 21:00 and he directed us to the dinner section. I wanted to order a hamburger but I was told that it's not possible to order a meal that is on the menu of the cafe section. They split the place as restaurant and cafe section and the menus are totally different. I ordered a wiener schnitzel. It was not crispy as it should be, french fries was cold and not crispy at all. Atmosphere is very nice. The rock plates that they use look elegant however you can hear the cutlery scratching and grinding which makes so annoying voice...

I will use the opportunity to share with everyone my admiration for this place and the people who make it, a wonderful environment with a warm welcome from the hosts, at every step you can feel the professionalism and effort of the employees to make you feel welcome and satisfied! The food is memorable and recommended to everyone, such a rich menu makes you wonder what to try first and everything is delicious and rich, in a word perfect, we always stop by and come back again!
