The Café Restaurant Cap Spartel, across from an old lighthouse on the Atlantic, is located at the far northwest corner of North Africa, at the entrance to the narrow Strait of Gibraltar that separates Africa from Europe and where the Atlantic Ocean merges into the Mediterranean Sea.
For decades this restaurant has served fish and other foods to countless tourists and Moroccans. Bus loads of tourists would pull up and they would have a traditional Moroccan mint tea or meal before moving on to another location such as Chefchaouen or Asilah.
In March 2021, I went to this restaurant with a friend from Agadir, who parked his car in the very large parking lot. Immediately I noticed a large new outdoor dining area up some stairs behind the large main restaurant. It was almost completely full.
When a table became available, we sat under an umbrella. The waiter came promptly and we ordered only mint teas, brought in small pots with small glasses. It was not the best tea I've had in many years of visiting Morocco, and my friend agreed it wasn't that good. Our teas cost 16 Dirhams each, plus a tip.
This upper outside area of the Café Restaurant Cap Spartel is surrounded on two sides by a large fenced-in enclosed playground for young children, with swings and slides, etc.
There were families and tourists, some with children, eating fish, pizzas and salads or just having a drink. But even here you could see the ocean through the trees, over the roof of the original large restaurant down below.
Afterwards, we went out front in to look at the panoramic views and the iconic lighthouse. I walked up the stairs and went inside to look at the menu, and saw the fresh fish available on ice displayed inside the chilled cabinet. I thought the prices high as some fishes were 60 DH to 100 DH per 100 grams.
But there were also hamburgers, pizzas and pastas on the menu, along with other items that were more affordable. You might even have an omlette or complete breakfast here while enjoying the views and tranquil surroundings, away from the noisy downtown area in Tangier.

A definite must when around the area, especially when visiting the light house (cap spartel). The avacado/almond shake is just perfect, the perfect consistency, texture, real avacados, and just the right sweetness. The almonds are real toasted puree'd almonds, not almond milk so it takes a second to get used to the realness of it. The cappuccinos are absolutely wonderful, especially in a country of tea drinkers. The view if you get a seat by the window is spectacular. Hit this place along your journey.

Amazing location. But that’s it. The food looked amazing on the menu on the pictures. But when we ordered it looked nothing like it. It had no flavour. We ordered grilled sea food platter and it was just grilled- was chewy prawns. No flavour in food- and it showed some sort of dipping oil or butter but they did not serve with it when asked they have plain olive oil. Coffee was ok, bread was stoggy. Could have done with some flavouring. I would not recommend this place at all. The waiting staff took too long to come and communication was not that great. WiFi available but had patchy network.

They exaggerate in prices.
We were three people. They charged 20 dhs for tea (which should not exceed 15-17 dhs for each teapot). For 6 fried eggs, they charged 54 dhs three people, which is very exaggerating for locals. Generally, We were charged (132 dhs) much than what we had for a basic breakfast made from tea and eggs. (No orange served)-Actually, food quality is not special.
I would not recommend. There are luxurious Lecherias [La Lecheria- Tropicana and others] downtown where one can have a large and good quality breakfast better than this café!

Very good crepe with amlou + banan (not on the menu but you can order it), very good Italian cappuccino. Has nice moroccan tacos too. The view of the ocean is breathtaking. In morocco there are some menu items I generally avoid, like pizzas, burgers, sallad, tap water and ice. Also stay away from mainstream sodas like Coke, Pepsi if you are an ethical person. You just need to know what to order, usually you cant go wrong with tagines and fish dishes and fresh juices!

This seems to be a great spot to have some Moroccan tea and traditional Moroccan pancakes. You overlook where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet. The service was very good and the tea and food was good as well. We stopped here as part of a tour we're on. Anyhow, it was a nice place, and it was clean. Oh there were some wild boars running around when we got there, which was kind of neat.
