I made a special journey one lunch time to this restaurant after seeing a YouTube video about it , that a vlogger had made , they cook a mechoui there which is a spit roast lamb .. it all looked very nice when she ate there but in reality for me it wasn't an enjoyable experience or meal .. when you arrive , you walk through a hallway to where you come straight to the grill part of it , when the waiter lifted the lid on the hotplate dish , all there was just seemed to be just cuts of meat , big bones & lots of fat & gristle , maybe I was wrong in thinking that I would see the carcass of a little sheep , it looked that way on the video so this made me question if this was actually cooked that day or was the off cuts/left overs from the day before , it was a Monday so could have been from the weekend , anyway after traveling quiet a way to go there & not wanting to seem " rude " I ordered some & in fairness he let me chose which pieces of meat I wanted , I met him at a table id sat at where he brought the plate of meat then some bread & a small plate of chopped tomato & onion along with a little spicy dip .. I was the only person in the part I sat & there was a sense of dreariness about the place , the real disappointment came when paying the bill as it more than stated at the entrance it that was expensive enough anyway , not a place id recommend as the whole area where the restaurant is , is " depressing &...
Read moreI walked in here one Sunday afternoon. I heard they do good tagines here so I wanted to search it out - it’s an interesting old building — full of Moroccan people working and also Moroccan people having a festive tagine - it’s a prayer room here too - the upstairs restaurant is very atmospheric- downstairs I entered the room or hall where they make tagines - all of them very big - family’s come here to share big tagines - they looked very nice - but I don’t eat meat - so I tried their chips and salad Moroccan: next to the tagine place is a traditional bread oven where an old woman was sat making traditional bread - it smelt and looked so good. These where the best chips I tried in the area and they serve it with proper mineral sea salt - i asked for the amazing hot sauce made of chilles and preserved lemon - the salad was good too. It’s great to just sit here eating delicious chips and soak up the busy and festive atmosphere- will come here every time I feel like eating chips - I will try the bread next time or come here to buy traditional bread made by excellent bread makers...
Read moreI have known Restaurant Al Baraka in Aourir for many years, but during my last visit this summer (on a family trip from Agadir to Essaouira), I had a very disappointing experience. • The waiting time was more than 20 minutes just for a tajine. • While waiting, we ordered a salad. What we received was shocking for the price: just 4–5 sliced vegetables, a tiny portion of rice, and one egg cut into four pieces — and they charged 90 MAD for it. • The tajine itself was another disappointment: the meat was very tough and hard to swallow.
Overall, the food quality and value for money were far below expectations. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this...
