Le relais du lac — Restaurant in caïdat de Ouazguita

We stopped here for lunch on our last day in Morocco. We were very pleasantly surprised by this lovely restaurant with beautiful views of the lake and surrounded by mountains. The atmosphere, the decor, the food, the little cats and even the peacock were perfect. The lady who runs it welcomed us personally and showed us the menu. The food was good and fairly average price for a tourist restaurant (similar to prices in Marrakech). We had a mixed grill and grilled sardines with a vegetable tagine side. There was complimentary bread and olive oil. We even had our first glass of wine on our Moroccan trip. I made friends with some sweet cats. It definitely has a touristy vibe, but we felt safe here and didn't feel like we were going to be ripped off or scammed like on some other more 'local'...

A restaurant on the edge of a lake, which is more or less full of water depending on the season. We happen to have gone end of October which is where the lake has least water, resulting in the view of a dry lake bed for the first 200 meters.

Setting is pleasant, I would say Moroccan-Balinese with a large outside terrace covered by several smaller rooftops. Good service and a good Couscous Royal though I wouldn't say close to the best couscous I've ever had. Place tends to be rather touristic. Prices were on the high side for Morocco.

All of the above taken into consideration, we'll worth a visit if it happens to be on your itinerary but not worth a trip from Marrakesh if the dining experience is your only...
