Elhaqouni Grill — Restaurant in Fez

🥩🍢🍵🍹The food was very good, the juices were refreshing, and the tea had great flavor, though the mint tea was a bit too steeped for our personal taste.

We ordered the mixed grill plate with merguez, kefta, chicken skewers, and grilled veggies served over flatbread, alongside a vegetable and chicken tagine topped with olives and preserved lemon. Everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. The mango smoothie, frothy and drizzled with chocolate, added a fun and indulgent touch. Classic Moroccan flavors done right at Elhaqouni Grill.

Overall, it was a great dining experience, but it ended on a sour note. When we paid by card, the server made an unnecessary fuss about it. That felt strange, especially since locals all seemed to be paying by card as well. It left us feeling a bit uncomfortable and unnecessarily singled out.

Be on guard. Mediocre burger and they tried to pull the old Moroccan menu trick here, too. Surprising given that this is in a non-touristic neighborhood of Fes. Basically the menu I ordered based on had cheaper prices listed. When the bill came it was significantly higher. I defiantly walked to a table in the far corner of the restaurant with a stack of menus as the staff protested and pulled one to turn it over to the page that showed the lower price of my order. They all started laughing like mischievous children caught pulling a prank. Maybe I'm just worn out by the dishonesty of the Moroccan people but I didn't find it funny. Never coming back and hope other foreigners...

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years, and it used to be one of my favorites. The food was always fresh, flavorful, and served with care. Unfortunately, my last few visits have been disappointing. The quality has clearly dropped — dishes taste bland, portions are smaller, and even the presentation looks rushed.

Service has also changed; what used to be friendly and attentive now feels indifferent and slow. It’s sad to see a place with so much potential lose its charm. I truly hope management pays attention and brings back the standards that made this restaurant special in the...
