L’Esplanade : Café & Restaurant — Restaurant in Marrakesh Prefecture

Unfortunately me and my friend got salmonella food poisoning from this restaurant. I ordered the creamy chicken mushroom tagliatelle. The texture and taste was horrible it tasted slimy and the cream was off. I’m a bit weird with texture anyways so I asked my friend to taste which is how I know this food poisoned us as it’s the only food we shared together. I only ate 3 mouthfuls as the texture was so vile I couldn’t stomach it. If I had eaten this whole bowl of pasta I would have been in hospital.

We sat round the corner by the banister in front of the kitchen door. I remember looking over to my right as the door was open seeing the chefs walking past and I wish I took a picture because tell me why the raw chicken was sitting out in the open on the table in the heat with the door open where flies and bacteria can get to it. They weren’t preparing or anything it was just sitting there.

It left me and my friend bed ridden for 3 days in Marrakech , fever , immense pain , severe dehydration and being sick from both ends was absolutely horrible.

Our starters were actually nice and my friend enjoyed her main , my drink was nice too but my friend did not like her detox drink. I would recommend not eating any chicken from here.

The service to get our first drinks was terrible we sat for like 30 mins and there was only one waiter serving and taking everyone’s orders that was there. I feel like they were rushed off their feet so my main especially wasn’t prepared properly and especially wasn’t fresh, As after we order the main it came like 10 mins later… And tell me why the waiter touched my spring rolls starter with his bare hands. I am absolutely appalled at the service at l’esplanade this evening. I ordered the Mixed grill, which arrived cold one hour after ordering. They had served everyone else who had ordered after myself and had my food waiting getting cold in the kitchen. I explained the situation to the waiter (Anas). Firstly, I asked him if I could change my order, he responded no. I then requested a fresh mixed grill to be cooked. He agreed, however bought the same mixed grill plate back to my table 5 minutes later, which had been microwaved. He continued to lie to me and say it was a fresh batch. Anas then decided to state he didn’t speak English, walked off and ignored me. I then spoke to the chef and he stated he could make a new dish for me, however I was extremely unsatisfied with the service at this point so I declined and requested to just pay for my drinks. The chef stated that was absolutely fine. I then was awaiting payment via the reception lady (Khadija), she stated I would have to still pay for the mix grill even though I had not aten it, which was 120MAD! She then proceeded to ignore me whilst I was speaking to her. I had to await her to call her manager which took an additional 30 minutes for confirmation in order to just pay for the drinks. Her behaviour was diabolical, I have never been to a restaurant with such poor service. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I would like to share my concerns regarding the experience I had at your restaurant. Unfortunately, I found several issues that need to be addressed: Unprofessional Staff: The staff was unfriendly and unhelpful, which made the visit unpleasant. Irregular Service: The service was poorly managed, and nothing seemed organized or consistent. Unhealthy Food: The food served was of poor quality and did not appear fresh or hygienic.

This kind of experience reflects badly on the restaurant and discourages customers from returning. I hope you address these issues to improve the quality of your service and create a better environment for your customers.
