I had the pleasure of visiting The Helmeringhausen Café, which is not only a delightful stop for travellers but also a piece of history in itself. The café, which is part of the Helmeringhausen Hotel, offers a charming and rustic atmosphere, with a blend of historical charm and cosy modern touches. The hotel itself is steeped in history, founded by early settlers and continuing to provide guests with a welcoming and comfortable stay. The café is a perfect spot to relax, and I was treated to some of the best apple pie I’ve ever had. The crust was perfectly flaky, and the apple filling was wonderfully balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and spice. It paired beautifully with their freshly brewed coffee, making for a perfect afternoon treat. The service was outstanding, thanks to Susanna and Sanna, who made sure I felt right at home. Both were incredibly friendly, attentive, and eager to share the rich history of the hotel and café. The Helmeringhausen Café & Hotel is a wonderful blend of history, charm, and hospitality. Whether you’re staying in one of the historical rooms or just stopping by for a coffee, it’s a great spot to experience the essence of Helmeringhausen. I highly recommend a visit to anyone in the area!

What a charming little gem in the middle of nowhere! We stopped at the Helmeringhausen Hotel Restaurant and were welcomed by a friendly waitress and a truly lovely cup of coffee. The peaceful garden was a real treat, filled with a surprising variety of birdlife — perfect for a relaxing break. The town itself may be tiny, with only a handful of residents, but it makes for a wonderful pitstop while exploring Namibia. Don’t drive past without popping in!

Good as a pit stop or to stay on your way to another destination. Not many vegan or vegetarian options and there is little leg room to customize or add fresh vegetable options. They also don't have wifi, but if you're roaming on Vodacom (mainly South African network provider) the network picks up at this location. No drinks menu but looked like there was a fully stocked bar. Wheelchair friendly although not entirely wheelchair conscious.

Ok. This is conveniently located between Aus and Solitaire and can be a possibility for a night stop. This is what we did. We arrived there early afternoon and was quite busy as people stop for a coffee or lunch on the way. There is nothing around so it's convenient for a break even if you don't stay there. The place is nice with a garden and a few old cars on the side of its premises named " museum" (not really but this is what they like to call it). Upon arrival we had been greeted at the reception from a lady who might be the owner. Although our booking was for a double room she told us that she will change it to a twin room and then went away giving her place to her employee to do the paper work and the explanations.||The room we got was nice and spacious with hot water bottles placed on the beds for filling them in the evening. The quilts were small, more like made for kids. In the bathroom there was a soap and batonnetes but no shower gel (which is correctly noted by another guest in previous reviews). ||In the evening the dinner was nice overall except the dessert which was a tasteless malva cake. We were just two tables for a dinner. The staff was polite and attentive but they could put some music for ambiance. When we finished the dinner, we brought our hot water bottles for the staff to fill up. In Helmeringhausen we had the most sleepless night in all our entire time in Namibia. The beds were uncomfortable because the quilts were so small for a really cold night. ||In the morning breakfast was served on the table and it was nice. The owner appeared in the background passing very fast greeting us and then dealing with some other things. We found strange that in a small hotel like Helmeringhausen the owner could be more friendly and have a personal contact with the guests. Especially that we were only two tables at the breakfast, and the only guests during the night.||The highlight of the place in my opinion, is not the apple pie (which we hadn't try although much advertised and could offer it as a dessert in the dinner since it's a signature cake of the place) but the view point the hotel arranged on the rocky hill at the back of the establishment. It's a 5 mins sundowner trail that leads to the top where there are chairs and tables for viewing the sunset. I think it's a must to do if you are staying there. ||Closing, something that I found strange it's a notice somewhere in the hotel saying that if you lose something at the premises for the hotel, the hotel itself is not responsible. I found this very irresponsible, because if you lose something, the hotel should be in a position to at least investigate the case. These kind of signs you find only in parking spaces (!) not in hotels. ||Having said all these, I rate the place with 3* - average - because of mixed feelings.||Helmeringhausen Hotel is still a choice to stay in the middle of nowhere. Just don't...

I have stopped here several times and decided to try it out as an overnight option. After the experience, especially with the management, I wouldn't recommend people to stay here overnight, especially not as a female solo traveller. I arrived in a good mood, then shortly after my arrival some male staff member was trying to flirt by making an inappropriate comment when I passed him in the parking area. I thought it showed a lack of respect and professionalism but tried not to let it spoil my mood, thinking that at least the female staff was friendly. However, I was disappointed later when arriving at an empty restaurant for dinner and as I was about to sit the lady asked me to sit in a dark corner, she said because I was alone and that I could get a better table if I came back with my family. I thought this behaviour was very rude and told them, but they didn't seem to understand the issue. One could probably try to understand that the ladies were not thinking to be rude but that their behaviour was a result of the local farm culture or the wishes of the management but personaly I would just stay away from this place. For me the worst part was the reaction of the management when, after another review about the inappropriate comment of that male employee only, instead of reflecting or even apologizing they called me a liar, made up a story of me requesting a "social table" to share dinner with other guests (really no clue how they came up with that) and calling me rude (because I didn't feel like smiling and chitchatting after these experiences or leaving a tip).|Besides these personal experiences I would say that the rooms are decent, but definitely overpriced, probably because the hotel is in the middle of nowhere and doesn't have to compete with other places. There is a small pool, though you'll have to pay 250 N$ to...

I have been travelling around the globe for the last 57 years. This is beyond doubt the worst treatment I have ever received from any accommodation owner. ||After having travelled all day I arrived at the Helmeringshausen Hotel at 6:50pm. It was closed but the gate to the campsite was open. There was no one else in the campsite and the ablutions were locked. I pitched my tent, had supper and spent a quiet evening. ||The next morning I got out of my tent to see an angry beast steaming towards me. I said good morning and was greeted with, "What do you think you are doing trespassing on my farm"? Well what could I say to that? I was informed to go and pay at the office and clear off immediately. One of the workers then opened the ablutions, but told me he had been instructed not to turn the geyser on.||I packed my stuff and headed to reception. There I was once again confronted by the beast who was now speaking in a thick German accent. I asked her if she had ever heard of Trip Advisor. She replied, "I don't give a f#@k about them, they don't have my number"!||Not only is this imbecile ruining her own business, but she is tarnishing the whole Tourism industry in Namibia. I was in Namibia for 6 weeks and only had fantastic service. This beast's behavior and attitude is just so out of line. Judging from the other reviews I am not the only one with this opinion.||I have been involved in the Tourism industry in South Africa for 25 years and know it well. People like this should be shut down as they do so much damage to their country's reputation. I have forwarded a report to Namibia Tourism and...
