Dorje Bakery Cafe & Coffee Center — Restaurant in Gosaikunda

Considering where you are - high altitude, sub-alpine environment - this place is magical. The baked goodie and drink I tasted - a slice of chocolate cake + fresh ginger tea - were magical after a long day's trek in the cold, dry air and harsh temperatures, BUT - what is with the man (with the bright red puffy)'s attitude? I asked him a couple casual questions about the cafe/bakery and on the linguistic dynamics of Lang Tang and was met with a dismissiveness and demeanor that was quite a turn off. Later, I watched him interact with his colleague at the coffee shop - a younger female worker - never looking at her in the eye when talking, keeping his eyes on his phone while multitasking, and seemingly (since I don't know what they are saying) exerting an air of male-dominance over her. Lhakpa’s bakery is amazing! Great coffee, apple pie, cakes and sandwiches and a wonderful place to be after trekking to Kyanjin Gompa. Lhakpa is warm and friendly, knowledgeable and connected with the community. It is well worth spending time with him to learn about Langtang and he is also able to help with anything you may need. He arranged our trek with incredible guides and porters and even made a unique Langtang birthday experience in the bakery with apple cake and drinks. We hope we can...

The first look after the mountains in Kyanjin Gumba is of Dorje Bakery. Its location is a perfect synergy of focus and attraction. The person inside the cafe Lhakpa dai is charming and welcoming. The best thing in his cafe he served me was Apple Cake. I guess maybe it is not his best but I couldn't try his other recipes due to time constraints. Lhakpa dai, I promised you a detailed review and i have done it. I am keen visiting Kyanjin Gumba next time and have a cup of coffee again...
