Cantina San Juan 🇲🇽 — Restaurant in 's-Hertogenbosch

Not every place bothers to pick up the phone when you reach out — many simply let the line ring or hide behind an unmanned inbox. Here, at least, there was a voice at the other end, willing to listen and to say: “We’ll check and call you back if needed.” That already makes a difference, because it shows a basic level of respect that others often forget. In the end, my plans changed and I was no longer waiting for a call. But I still want to give credit where it’s due: they answered, they spoke politely, and they gave a clear answer instead of brushing me off. For anyone who has tried to start fresh — including many people from Ukraine and elsewhere who know how frustrating silence can be — such gestures matter more than businesses may realise. Four stars, because while the call-back never came, the initial willingness to respond already sets them above many others. A restaurant that at least treats people decently in conversation deserves...

At first sight it looks nice, nice atmosphere, nice terrace, very friendly nice staff that makes you feel very welcome.

However the food was very disappointing, we ordered the paella with seafood and after having a bite of the white fish it wasn't very well cooked inside, and you have this heavy fish taste on all the fish pieces and we had to send it back didn't eat it. First they took only one dish out of the bill after complaining they took both of them out of the bill. Maybe it was a bad moment, maybe you shouldn't order paella in a Mexican restaurant but it wasn't good.

One of the surprising thing was the chef told to staff that he tasted the food and it was totally fine. That was the moment for me to stop telling about how bad was it because if you are that much of a chef than I wouldn't put you in the kitchen if I am the owner.

We went in because our vegeterian friend really wanted an item on the menu. When we wanted to place our order, she was told that the item she wanted wasn't available because the day before 7 vegeterians came and they didn't make the item anymore for that day (note to staff: at the beginning of the night, you always alert customers of items that are not available for that day). The waitress then asked if she didn't want anything from the meat menu... We chose to leave because there was nothing else my vegeterian friend wanted. When the waitress brought the bill she gave us a lot of attitude and also during the paying process. We are defintely not coming back!

P.S. NO costumers walked in the 10 minutes we were ordering so they didn't even miss...
