Het Warenhuis - Stadsbrasserie — Restaurant in 's-Hertogenbosch

Situated at the city center of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, it boasts on strategic location with nice selections of not only Dutch but also fusion foods. Their meat lovers burger is the best. The fried onion in the middle gave leverage to the juicy patty of the burger. The service on the other hand was a disaster, maybe it’s culture or maybe they don’t really like people of different backgrounds. Not until a guy came from the kitchen asking us how the food tasted with a big smile, could we enjoyed the food properly(because I was asking for cutlery). Not only ignoring us, the waiters seem to discuss among themselves often or talking to the regulars perhaps (because they were so friendly with the other guests) rather than finding out why we called them several times. Place is at amazing location but place itself is nothing special. My biggest problem here was that service was not so super nice. The girl that helped us was ok, but noting special in the mood. I like the look inside but its to cold and industrial design for my taste. It was as well really cold - temperature. Cakes are nothing special,coffee as well, but sandwiches are really good. Very mixed feelings about this place. I like the location I like some parts but service is not good and it's without soul somehow. Prices are high for this service. Een dagje Den Bosch wat uiteindelijk bestond uit een halve dag genieten bij Het Warenhuis. Midden op de Markt en dus midden in het centrum van Den Bosch. Maar absoluut een pareltje hoor! En dat begon voor ons al bij de lunch.

Hier namen mijn vrouw en ik beiden het broodje Jeronimus. Een cadeautje met gekruid rundergehakt, paprika, ui, cheddar en tortillachips. Dit alles op een kraakvers brood. Heerlijk. Echt super smaakvol. We hebben genoten. Bij de lunch zagen we ook dat ze huisgemaakte kokosmakroon hadden, in maarliefst 4 smaken. Helaas waren er op dit moment maar 3 smaken te krijgen, naturel, limoen en speculaas. Wij gingen toch voor naturel want we vonden speculaas meer voor herfst/winter. En laten we eerlijk zijn: limoen en koffie: just no. De koffie is erg goed hier, maar de kokosmakroon viel toch een beetje tegen. De kokossmaak liet een beetje afweten. Maar goed, nog steeds prima.

We zagen al dat het lekker druk was bij Het Warenhuis. En dat is een goed teken. Dus einde middag kwamen wij weer terug en het geluk was aan onze kant: er kwam nét een plekje vrij op het terras! Hier lekker geborreld, erg goed bereidde kip gyoza’s gegeten, perfecte Bourgondische bitterballen op, heerlijke rosé en witte wijn gedronken. Alles was lekker! Op 1 dingetje na: bij de Bourgondische bitterballen bestelde we 3 losse kaasbitterballen. Deze vielen tegen. Geen lekkere smaak, maar ook niet zo lekker warm als de bitterballen. We sloten de dag af met een dubbele espresso (de grootste dubbele espresso die ik ooit zag, maar geen klachten, enkel complimenten hierover!) én natuurlijk een Bossche Bol van Jan de Groot. Zalig!
