I would give the dining experience here a 4 star in general, but the food itself is a 3/5. I came here with more expectation that what it is. We ordered a tsuki menu with 6 courses menu, came home with a full stomach. Talking about the flavor, it is kinda decreasing over each course. The starter with three small dishes gave a good refreshing taste and introduction to Japanese cusine. Next is sashimi, fresh and flavorful. Then we get baked fish (dorado) in sweet soy sauce I think. This is okay but a bit overlap in flavor with the final main dish (beef with teriyaki sauce) also a sweet soy sauce with mirin & sake. This is where I think they can do something better in arranging the dishes. Tempura between fish and meat dish is not bad. Desserts with houjicha panna cotta, a small scoup of matcha ice cream, red bean pudding cake and some thinly sliced fruit is not really balanced after some steak with teriyaki sauce. The panna cotta is not that good yet the roasted tea flavor is there, ice cream okay but pudding cake a no. Overall I would say everything is still there but they do not really reach their maximum capacity... All the staff lady are really nice taking care of all the guests, love this! P/s some wine there are outstanding, yuzu shu and ume wine are top choices, good paring...
Read moreHaving dined at Shiro for over 20 years, starting from my primary school days, I can confidently say that the restaurant has consistently upheld a level of quality that never disappoints.
In today’s economy, enjoying a 5-course menu for €58 is a great value for money. You will undoubtedly leave feeling full and satisfied.
The Japanese amuses are a standout for me, offering something unique that you rarely encounter in other Japanese restaurants in the Netherlands. Unless you dine at other authentically Japanese-owned businesses.
For those who assume Shiro is limited to raw fish, you’re in for a surprise. Their menu features deliciously prepared cooked meats and fish dishes.
*As for à la carte options, the Duck with teriyaki sauce is a personal favorite and highly recommended.
*The owner and host of the restaurant is also always ever so elegant! And the staff is...
Read moreWas overall average, it tasted good but just not worth the price at all. Ingredients used, presentation and taste was all just average which really doesn’t justify how much we paid for that evening. As other comments mentioned, the food we got was food comparable to other all you can eat sushi places.
I have to say though the service was good and the restaurant is run by Japanese people which was very authentic- just disappointed in the ingredients used in the dishes and the taste for...
