Restaurant Bertram — Restaurant in Aalten

I stayed in the hotel and had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. The room was clean and pleasant, but basic (don’t let the dated website photos put you off, my room had white walls and white bedding). I was pleased that the door to my room went right out to the street - it gave me the feeling of being in my own small apartment. I was able to hear the church bells from my room, not loud just a nice reminder of where I was.

Dinner at the restaurant was fantastic. I got the wolffish and the entire dish was perfection. Breakfast was bread, cold cuts, cheese, a boiled egg and a smoothie. Everything was fresh and good. The restaurant itself is charming, especially in the evening. I was happy to sit, have a glass of wine and enjoy the atmosphere.

The location is ideal - right on the town square in Bredevoort (an utterly charming small town). I had no problem finding a parking spot on the square when I arrived in the evening.

I gave Bertram 5 stars because it is great value for the money and provided a lovely, relaxing atmosphere...

I stopped here for a drink and some food with my 4 year old on a day out. It's a nice location in the center of town. However, we waited 40 minutes without being welcomed or served. He was very disappointed to not get the juice he was hoping for. To make matters worse, a bucket of cleaning water was split on him, so there is no chance we weren't noticed by staff. I don't know if it was because we were speaking English, but certainly other clientele were prioritized above us, of course we could have ordered in Dutch. There are several other restaurants in the area and so whilst the location of this one might be the nicest, I would very much recommend avoiding this place...

We stayed here one night while visiting the area. Bertram is a very relaxed and enjoyable B&B type multi room hotel located right at the central square. Rooms are clean, beds excellent, bathroom small but with all necessary equipment. Shower excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast simple but very enjoyable. Parking free of charge right alongside the hotel. |The nice thing is the historical town and it's beautiful...
