We do not understand the positive reviews. Both of us (my boyfriend and I) have had way more pleasant and tasty experiences elsewhere. It started when we entered the restaurant. We had a reservation, yes we were 10 minutes late, however they treated us like there was a big mystery going on and had to ask us 3 times if we had reservations, by 3 different people. There was hardly any eye contact going on, which I think is a big No No. First and foremost I think it’s important you greet guests with a big smile and make eye contact so that they feel welcome. You do not want to make them feel they made a mistake with the reservation or they made a mistake making the reservation at all. It’s all about making them feel welcome….right?!
The menu was literally a book, it had tons of pages with starters, mini bites, tandoori dishes, biryani’s, curry’s etc. etc. There is no way that all these dishes are freshly made in the kitchen when ordered. It’s just impossible to do so or this restaurant would not have made it passed the one year anniversary. I suspect that a lot of the dishes are from the freezer when ordered. There would not be a chef on this planet that would motivate this large of a menu.
And then this….what Indian restaurant doesn’t sell samosa’s? The only way we could order samosa’s was if we ordered a dish with a samosa covered with chaat. Which made us wonder….why would you not sell the samosa’s as they are (fresh, crispy and full of flavour) unless they are not sellable as is.
We had loads of leftovers and we wanted to take it home…which was possible, we only had to pack it ourselves on our small table🫣🙄. You can’t be serious….I thought they were joking, but they were not. Never ever in my life did I encounter this and neither did my boyfriend.
The two only positives were the mango lassis and the nice waitress.
I am not one that makes a fuss easily, but in this case I was so disappointed that I got motivated enough to make my point clear. I hope that this restaurant makes the improvements it needs: ‘make guests feel welcome, smaller menu, fresh foods’ and not let the reservations they have make them go blind for there lack of quality of service. I really hope they strive to be better, so that if they were to get competition they would have a...
Read moreThe food was okayish: not bad but also not super good, have had tastier versions. However, given the relatively high prices the overall food score ends up low. Only thing I want to say is be aware that somehow they are able to serve dishes with the meat still raw/undercooked and somehow the English terms raw and undercooked were alien to the waiter we had so at some point I rephrased while showing him the pink slippery chicken to whether it is supposed to be that way and he answered with some illogical answer that the cooking method was tandoori. Well cooking method does not change the biological process that heating should always lead to denaturation of proteins and thus changing structure and color of meat...so cooked meat can never look that way besides the fact that the meat was close to uncuttable due to yes it being undercooked. But again discussions like this tire me since yes-no discussions always lead to nowhere unless someone acknowledges facts and the waiter was nice regarding all other service and such so I let it go for (mental) peace. But again if you are living on the edge or willing to verify the state of your dish and find the restaurant that good to take the risk to eat there it's fine. But for me it was the first and last time since I didn't find the dishes that good for it to be my last meal (ever) figuratively speaking. On the bright side I didn't die by food poisoning eventhough the...
Read moreMe and my spouse arrived and were immediately seated by the very hospitable and kind staff. The atmosphere was really authentic and peaceful, and we truly had a hard time picking from the menu since absolutely everything sounded so delicious! The prices were good, and we've went on with our order. First came the mango lassi, and upon sipping, I could imagine myself vividly in my head at the beach in Goa, with the light of sunset reflecting through the skyline silhouettes of bamboo huts and palm trees. It was then that I knew that we were really up for a very special treat. Afterwards came some kind of a deconstructed samosa. The samosa dish was built in such a way that in each bite, every flavor of any ingredient, including the different potent chutneys, would be felt. It was an absolute spicy goodness, and was a delight to dip with the garlic naan and papadam, which arrived with an abundance of tomato and onion salad on top. Afterwards we've had makhani dahl with real ghee! Was delicious as well, and served with such generosity that unfortunately we didn't have any room for desserts, which are probably divine as well. We feel very lucky to find such a wonderful restaurant with such an authentic experience, and greatly thank you for a wonderful romantic dinner, and for having the absolute best Indian food that I've ever had in my...
