De Proeftuin Hoenderloo — Restaurant in Apeldoorn

Cultural embracing, diversified acceptance. This is what strikes me as I sat at the table while waiting for our pizzas. I like to observe and witness what is going on in my environment. I observed a young chef making pizza, speaking Italian and English and a young lady waitress speaking English. As a non native Dutch here, I always find it refreshing that there is multicultural setting in the restaurant. The openness of the owner, willingness to hire non speaking Dutch chefs and employees. If we don't understand the Italian culture who takes pride in making their food and it usually takes a longer time and patience to wait for the food to arrive. We'd been to Rome and it's very normal that food arrived much longer than usual. We can't expect fast food in a restaurant as the society has moved to too fast a pace. Planning whether it is lunch or dinner or with children, we need to factor in the waiting time. I often notice lunch is less busy than dinner. If we prefer a quiet and less crowded time slots, we choose a lunch rather than dinner. We love the pizzas baked from the wood stove, not many restaurants do that. For us, it is a delicious meal and also a short nice conversation with the lady waitress from Colombia. Perhaps they're short of staff during dinner time. I see in many restaurants actually. A little patience or planning perhaps help both ourselves and the restaurants more enjoyable in the end. The food was delicious. We had pizza and a broodje for lunch. Beautiful area, not to busy and the mini golf course was lots of fun. Unfortunately we received some rather bad service from one particular employee. We made reservations. When we arrived the first thing was the face pulling when I said my name. Then I repeated my name and spelled my surname again. Still with the face pulling because I don’t have a typical dutch name. After our drinks order we waited 30 min without receiving a menu. We decided to find the menu on the website and walked inside the restaurant to order our meal ourselves. After lunch we walked inside again to pay, this time to receive the wrong bill to pay by the same employee. Luckily I realized afterwards it was not our bill. We did receive a refund because the bill I paid was almost double our total amount. I received an apology for the mix up. But not from the employee that made all...

Helaas geen goede ervaring gehad bij de Proeftuin. We hadden gereserveerd om 17:30 uur, toen we aankwamen werd ons verteld dat onze tafel op het terras bezet was door mensen die niet gereserveerd hadden dus dat we een tafel binnen zouden krijgen. Er waren echter nog genoeg tafels buiten beschikbaar, na wat aandringen hebben we uiteindelijk toch een hoge tafel buiten gekregen. Er werd gezegd dat we expliciet niet aan een tafel met 4 stoelen gaan zitten want die hadden ze nodig voor latere reserveringen. Echter mochten mensen die later aankwamen en ook met z’n tweeën waren én niet gereserveerd hadden wél aan die tafels zitten. Beetje vreemd.

Binnenkomst was dus al niet heel hartelijk, maar daarna begon de drama pas. Drinken werd na 20 minuten wachten opgenomen en werd gezegd dat de menukaart zo gebracht werd. Na een kwartier hadden we onze drankjes maar nog geen menukaart. Na een halfuur kregen we eindelijk de menukaart want de ober was ons vergeten. Daarna duurde het nog een poosje voordat het eten werd opgenomen.

Inmiddels zaten we al een uur op het terras. Onze glazen waren leeg maar er werd niet gevraagd of we nog iets wilde drinken. Verschillende obers zijn langs gelopen en hebben onze lege glazen gezien. We hebben geprobeerd contact te maken met de obers maar we werden iedere keer overgeslagen of genegeerd.

Uiteindelijk hebben we om 19.15 uur onze pizza gekregen. We hebben dus bijna 2 uur moeten wachten op ons eten! We hebben nooit meer een nieuw drankje mogen bestellen. Want ook bij het bezorgen van de pizza’s aan tafel liep de niet Nederlands sprekende ober gewoon weg van de tafel terwijl we haar aanspraken.

Het is bizar dat terwijl het terras niet vol zit je zo slecht met je klanten omgaat. Wij hebben snel onze pizza gegeten en afgerekend. Bij het eten van de pizza was een drankje wel gewenst geweest, maar niemand wilde ons bedienen. We hebben mensen die na ons binnen zijn gekomen eerder zien vertrekken dan dat wij überhaupt ons eten kregen.

Bij het afrekenen onze klachten gedeeld maar werd afgewimpeld met “daar kunnen wij momenteel niks aan doen”. Geen excuses of oplossing geboden. Voor de service hoef je hier dus niet heen, die is er...
