Father’s Day Dinner – Disappointing Experience Despite Pleasant Ambiance Date of Visit: June 15, 2025 Bill Total: 169 XCD (including 2 punches and 1 Sprite)
I wanted to surprise my husband with a nice dinner for Father’s Day, but unfortunately, the experience turned out to be quite disappointing.
While the ambiance of the restaurant was nice and the staff were polite, the quality of the food did not meet expectations. We ordered rice as a side dish, but it was extremely hard—like the leftover rice stuck to the bottom of a pot. I tried to overlook it and continue eating, but other nearby guests also commented on the poor texture of the rice. When my husband overheard someone else saying it was too hard, he tasted it and confirmed the same.
For the main course, my husband ordered a ribeye steak, as baby back ribs were unavailable due to being part of the day’s special. At first, he said the taste was okay, but he quickly noticed that the steak was extremely greasy. Oil was literally running down the steak cutter, which made it very unappetizing. When we brought it to the staff’s attention, they said it wasn’t the ingredients they used for cooking, which was confusing. My husband used his fork to press the steak, and more oil just poured out of it.
The staff asked if we wanted to exchange it, but he declined and said he couldn’t continue eating it as he was feeling nauseated. I asked them to pack it instead and said, “The dog will eat it.”
We were still charged the full amount—169 XCD—even though the main dish wasn’t eaten. When we got home, we gave the steak to our dog, but to our surprise, even he struggled to chew it. He’s a big dog, and seeing him fight with the meat reminded me of what my husband had said earlier: “It’s a fight just to cut this thing.”
It’s very disappointing to spend this much on a special occasion and leave with such an unpleasant memory. I truly hope the kitchen staff and management review the food quality, especially on important days like Father’s Day. The effort was there, but unfortunately, the...
Read moreDO NOT RECOMMEND. Very expensive, the quantity/quality price ratio is not worth it.
The general atmosphere is great. Nice decoration overall.
However, this day we went, we were a table of 10 people and there was no 3 in 1 top sirloin, no tomahawk and no lamb. I had time to order the lamb and they came back telling me there was none, killing all my hopes of eating this dish I so wanted :’(
We ordered 4 beef and reef (tenderloin and lobster) but the lobster was very small. The mashed potato and baked potato were bland and dull, no seasoning, no special taste.
The paella was not tasteful and contained only mussels and shrimp. We didn’t like the texture of the rice.
The meat was tender, the onion soup was not too bad, the creamy chowder was excellent as well as the octopus and beef gyoza.
The kitchen literally said no to bring bread to our table to eat with the creamy seafood chowder. Crazy!
Do not order the sangria. It is not good at all.
In spite of the missing items on the menu and the no bread policy, the restaurant charges a 10% gratuity fee for the kitchen. I guess because the waiters have to go up and down the stairs (dining room is upstairs and kitchen is downstairs).
We came out with a $774 (US DOLLARS) so that was just the final stroke.
DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! The portuguese restaurant ESPETADA, despite the simplicity of the decoration, is a way better option in terms of taste, quantity, hospitality, pricing and overall experience.
Took some nice pictures of the...
Read moreWe ordered for appetisers stuffed portobello and carpaccio and for main 3 in 1 sirloin steak and beef and lobster tail . We got complementary appetiser some kind of sushi it was delicious. Stuffed portobello was tasteless not salty neither spicy just covered with a lot of chopped tomatoes and cheese. Carpaccio was delicious the best we ever had. Now about the main dishes we can’t complain meat was prepared PERFECT! ( we both took mid rare) So that’s about the food. Now the atmosphere…
Well there was a lot of people ( I can only assume owners or workers) hanging around in the area just around the lift chatting really loud and just acting like they are at home . I felt like I am having dinner at someone’s house and I’m not welcome . It was also really cold inside. Overall experience the food was really delicious (besides the portobello) after trying their sushi I will definitely go back to taste more ! atmosphere and service (plus location-no nice view and always traffic around the area) Definitely took away a lot from the experience . Better...
