De Fles Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Curaçao

I was pleasantly surprised with the make over as I knew it before. Entering through the front patio door it’s direct airconditioned and the food smell should be handled.The place looks great but misses some artwork and design details. De Fles was initially based on a single menu Grilled Beef, French fries and a salad. After the make over the menu expanded but the prices also did. Foodcostwise, they are 20% too high. Way too high for the location, atmosphere and the platters are normal, not exquisite and not decorated. With the meals come bread and that is not done if prices equal High End Restaurants, neither should they lower their standards to Snackbar levels by having Ketchup , Maggie, Salt, Black Pepper on the tables. No place mats under the plates. They need a Maitre D to step up to a higher level that matches their current prices. The food had...

Our least enjoyable meal in Curacao, by far. While our meat was reasonably tasty, it was so poorly cooked. Some parts were rare and others parts well done. For the amount you're paying for a steak the least they could do is cook it properly. The service was well below average, borderline unfriendly - they seemed as if they just didn't want to be there. The restaurant itself seems as though it cannot decide what it wants to be - a steak house or dive bar. There are massive TV screens throughout playing trashy reality TV and harsh bright lighting during the evening. Small details like serving bread but no plates to eat it on, and sauces in plastic cups makes this restaurant feel very low quality, and a very poor value for money. There was a bit of descrepancy between the service of between not too friendly and super hospitable and extra-mile-going. So in average the service was ok.

Unfortunately while we were there, there was an electricity outage. Not sure if it was on location only or the whole neighbourhood, but... the staff seemed ready for it and geared up with door security, candles on the table and advising clients what was possible or not.

They shifted in the kitchen too and the food that came out was good under the circumstances. Kudos for that , I will return to check out the normal experience. My recommendation:...
