Café Labs — Restaurant in Delft

sadly and inevitably, the first association everyone will make when reading the words Escobar and Coffee will be Colombia. It's obvious that the name of this coffee bar was thought as a marketing strategy to say that they will sell excellent coffee. The sad and annoying thing is that they thought the name "Escobar" was necessary to bring "coolness" to the place! Colombian Coffee as any other high-quality coffee bean doesn't need additional promotion to sell! Its own reputation precedes it, and for Colombians is really insulting to have related something as sacred to our Cultural roots as coffee brewing, to a criminal psychopath as Escobar. The pain and stigmatization that Escobar caused to our country is unmeasurable and 24 years after his death we are still trying to change the stereotypes he created for us. Disrespectful branding like this one doesn't help in this process and just reinforces the wrong concept that Colombia is a synonym of Drugs. The #TUDelft is an international community that aims for respect, and concerns like this one should be open for discussion as this will be a place within our Campus. I truly hope you hear the concern of many people...

A cozy cafe to work or hangout with friends. I personally found the quality of the food to be the best on campus. The avocado poached egg sandwich was one of the best I had. The ginger tea was also good. If I had to nitpick, I would say one of the eggs was 30 seconds more overcooked. Again, this doesn't really ruin the experience. The other egg was perfectly cooked though, the rich runny yolk was a sight to die for. Their sourdough bread was exquisite.

I had a mixed experience with the service. At first the person who came to take my order was rude and rushed me, giving no time to think however, the lady who served me was courteous and helpful. I was living upstairs labs cafe and used to grab some drinks here. I had experienced racism here. The owner shouted at me Fu-WORD Chinese and tried to hit with glass bottle towards my head on May 21st 2022 1AM when arguing the night party noise issue. He was stopped by his wife, while his behavior was just explained as "overreaction" and no apology. Why did I tell this till now? Because I have just moved out the dorm, I used to see the owner visited our dorm building without permission even though there is a locking system for our gate. Also contacted TUDelft Integrity Office to consult requesting the monitor video and ask for help from plice. ...
