Tutto Bello! — Restaurant in Dongen

Well I am afraid this place is just not for me. A clarification though- first I was a solo non Dutch speaking customer on Saturday night of Easter weekend. The menu was all in Dutch and it was very busy and language barriers definitely had an impact on my experience.

So first of all this format of dinning really does not work at all for a single person. After finally figuring out that basically you can order 2 tapas type dishes (that is 1 round) as many times as you like before 10pm then desert is from 10-1030. This really only makes sense for a large group that is going to spend 3-4 hours socialising over dinner. Like others have said the wait times between each round are very long- 45 minutes+ for 1 person this is not enjoyable especially in a very loud and somewhat unpleasant environment. To me there is nothing cozy about having to yell your order to your server. I really wish this ( rounds idea) of small dishes was an option so onevcould just order 1 regular type portion and not have to do this round wait round wait and repeat.

Food wise if you really have gone to high end small tastes tapas type places the food has to be really out of this world unique and exquisite. I am a very big fan of this kind of each tiny dish bespoke flavor type of dining- this however was not that. 1st round was Small individual salami pizza that was really only 1 notch up from super market non frozen pizza, and the classic penne with garlic and oil that was far below anything I have had and almost an embarasment to anyone who has had this deep soul comfort food in Italy. And the portion?? See the pic this is next to a regular spoon! Come on -I get it tapas is tiny bites but 8 penne served as a dish- really? Next round was chicken with supposedly Parma Prosciutto which was really just chicken with bacon in a very salty brown sauce-nope not unique not exquisite just average but tiny portion. Not Parma Procuitto more like just regular breakfast bacon. Salad with artichoke was basically a cold artichoke heart in the middle of greens with some very salty white dressing with crumbled cheese. This dish can't decide if this is ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing.

At this point I have been sitting in this very noisy environment for over 90 minutes with terrible service and I gave up. I could not sit another 45 minutes to get some well bellow mediocre cuisine so I just asked for dessert (well before the 10 pm dessert timeline). Red velvet cheesecake and cappuccino. Another bit of non special tastes with a cappuccino with simply a blob of foam not even in the center of the cup! Even bean to cup machines can do better and how do you have a bean to cup espresso machine in an Italian restaurnt? total cost 49€ that includes 1 pint Brand Beer!

Not only was the service unpleasant the whole night but then the waiter could not get my non Dutch bank card to work saying they don't take debit cards- really? This waiter just did not want to be bothered to have to speak English or deal with 1 person table. He was busy with a bunch of large parties so I can understand in principle that serving 1 person in the context of all his other tables was a bit of a pain but it is a resteraunt afterall. Oh I forgot to mention that when I was first seated the knife on my setting was dirty- crusted over with food. I asked for a new one and never got another knife returned.

The saving grace of the whole night was the hostess who seated me. She made a huge effort to help me with the translation of the menu, and generally made a huge effort to try to make my dinner somewhat enjoyable including coming back to re-run my international card which of course worked perfectly fine as it had in all the other applications during my stay here. So why could the waiter not make it work? Once again it felt to me he just could not be bothered with a single forienger. Maybe not true but that's how it felt to me.

Vorig jaar hier voor het eerst geweest. En nu eindelijk weer eens voor een tweede keer terug geweest. Leuke zaak, gezellige sfeer, goede service en zeer vriendelijk geprijsd.

Voor mijn gevoel had ik vorig jaar toch nét wat beter gegeten. De gerechtjes waren nu geen van allen nog goed warm. Wel gewoon warm maar meteen goed eetbaar zeg maar. Je had alleen nooit het idee dat ze rechtstreeks vanuit de keuken meteen naar onze tafel zijn gebracht.

1 keer hebben ze een verkeerd gerecht geleverd, wat we vervolgens aangaven en toen werd er meteen met prio het juiste gerecht bereid in de keuken. Toen deze na kort wachten geserveerd werd, was deze absoluut nog goed heet. Goed opgelost.

Alle gerechtjes zijn lekker maar bij geen één kan ik echt zeggen ‘daarvoor moet je naar Tutto Bello!’. Daarvoor mistte de meesten toch iets van smaak of de wow-factor. Daarvoor kun je toch beter terecht bij de heerlijke selectie toetjes. Deze zijn echt heerlijk! En zeker met een espresso erbij.

Verder zijn de wijnen ook echt wel goed, zelf heb ik de pinot Grigio rosé, de pinot Grigio (droge witte wijn) en de Primitivo (rode wijn) gedronken. Erg lekker alle drie.

De bediening was heel behulpzaam en hielden alle tafels goed in de gaten. Eerlijk gezegd lag het tempo per ronde vrij hoog en dat gaven we ook aan. Maar ze leken niet helemaal te snappen dat we graag wat gas terug wilde nemen hierin. Pas na een keer of 3 aangeven.

Wel een geweldige en lekkere avond gehad. Ik zou hier ook zeker gewoon terug heen gaan. De prijs is goed en het eten en drinken...

Op een woensdag hier gaan eten met 6 personen, bediening was zeer traag en onvriendelijk. Er staat dat het ongeveer 20 minuten duurt voordat je het eten krijgt maar onze eerste ronde duurde 45 minuten. Hierdoor wilde we graag de volgende ronde ook al bestellen aangezien we meerdere rondes wilde bestellen en de keuken op een vaste tijd dicht gaat, echter was de dame in de bediening het hier niet mee eens en werden we afgesnauwd dat eerst alle borden leeg moesten zijn. De andere rondes duurde wel tussen de 20 a 30 min en toetjes kwamen sneller. Geen hoge kwaliteit hapjes maar prima eten, helaas was geen een gerecht warm maar alles was lauw. Gaat door voor een normaal tapas restaurant, geen echte Italiaan. We moesten meermaals aangeven dat we iets wilde bestellen, er liep maar een vrouw met een bestel kastje en die keek de gasten niet aan als zij langs liep. Toen we de toetjes wilde bestellen waren er 3 niet beschikbaar, witte chocolade mouse was uitverkocht en de ijskoffie & Scroppino niet beschikbaar. Helaas voor ons waren dit de 3 waar we naar uitkeken. In plaats van dit vooraf te melden toen we toetjes gingen bestellen, werden we 3 x teleurgesteld. Toen we hier een opmerking over maakte was de bediening hier zeer onvriendelijk over, het was niet haar schuld, we moesten er over op houden en het er maar mee doen. De gene die betaalde maakte hier opmerkingen over maar dit werd genegeerd, echter werd er wel te lang gewacht met het bedrag op de pin in typen (nadat pinnen werd gezegd) omdat er fooi werd verwacht.
