Situated next to a big and beautifull heath, this pancake restaurant is not only a perfect rest stop for cyclists and hikers, it is also a great place to have a quick dinner. The pancakes are made with a delicious thick dough (although you can choose for a thinner pancake), and they are topped off with a variety of different toppings. As per dutch tradition the pancakes can be covered in "stroop", to facilitate this on every table a big and authentic/nostalgic jar of it is placed on every table. If you order a fresh mint tea a small jar with honey is brought as well, which is greatly appreciated!

The only downsides are that such a thick and big pancake will definitely fill you up plenty, leaving no space for dessert or even starter, despite there being a few great starters and desserts on the menu. While it is very much appreciated that you can get a full meal for fairly cheap, I will suggest slightly reducing the size (but keeping the thickness) of the pancakes, and lowering the prices a bit to accompany the size reduction. The variety of topping options is also smaller than in other pancake restaurants, while there is enough to choose from, it does reduce the incentive to return.

During the spring and summer the terrace is opened and lunch or dinner can be had in the sun. They also offer different seasonal specialities and menus.

It was okay...

The toilets where clean, that's quite important.

The service was friendly, but very inexperienced. That was obvious because most of the timings where off.. like, if you take my order, and I want drinks. I expect to have my drinks within 2 or 3 minutes. And I won't order any food before I had my drink. So don't come ask me if I want to order food after 5 minutes because I'm still waiting for my bloody drinks. Eventually the drinks appeared. The water glasses where not clean. Usually I get up and walk away if this happens. But since it wasn't my idea to eat there I asked for clean glasses. And a few seconds later the problem was solved.

Then the food..

The food was actually pretty good. I had the salad with goat cheese, my son ate a pancake with bacon and cheese. Nothing to complain about. Prices where reasonable.

Now you might think why such a long story for this simple pancake restaurant.

Well, it's because if the drinks were well timed, and the glasses were clean and.. well basically the staff was better trained.. they would have...

Eine sehr schöne Location mit angrenzenden Wandermöglichkeiten die an die Landung der Alliierten im 2 Weltkrieg erinnern sollen. Vor dem Restaurant befindet sich ein Sherman Panzer, wohl ein Überbleibsel aus der Operation Market Garden.

Zu den Positiven Aspekten dieses Restaurants gehören vor allem das freundliche und kulante Personal, das auch mehrsprachig ist. Der sehr große Außen- wie auch Innenbereich des Restaurants. Extrem leckerer Kaffee, was aber in den Niederlanden Gang und Gebe ist, keine durchsichtige Plürre wie man sie hierzulande serviert bekommt. Auch die Nachspeise die ich probiert habe hat mich vom Geschmack sehr begeistert. Desweiteren eine sehr stilvolle Einrichtung und sehr saubere Toiletten die nicht nach solchen riechen. Außerdem gibt es genügend Parkmöglichkeiten und eine E-Bike Ladestation. Desweiteren mit im Angebot des Restaurants, ist eine E-Scooter Leih Station. Wie genau sich dort die Preise gestalten, habe ich nicht in Erfahrung gebracht.

Leider konnte ich nicht genug Hunger vorweisen um die Spezialität des Hauses zu probieren, die Pfannkuchen, aber eins sei gesagt, mir ist noch nie das Wasser im Munde so sehr geflossen, von dem alleinigen Geruch dieses einfachen Gerichts.

Zu den negativen Aspekten zählen wohl die etwas überteuerten Preise, 2,50 € für einen 150 ml Kaffee ist meiner Meinung nach etwas zu teuer, aber das Restaurant, gibt auch an, das es gehobenere Preisklasse ist. Von daher ist meine Wahrnehmung hier wohl Subjektiv. Nichts desto trotz, finde ich 12,50 € für 2 Kaffee und einen kleinen Eisbecher einfach zu viel. Desweiteren befand sich eine Ameise in meinem Zucker, den ich zum süßen meines Kaffees benutzt habe, nachdem ich dies beanstandet habe, wurde mir sofort eine neuer Zuckerstreuer gebracht und eine kostenloser Kaffee und das Personal hat sich ohne Widerworte freundlich bei mir entschuldigt. Deswegen auch an dieser Stelle keinen weiteren Punkte Abzug für die Ameise. Kulanz zahlt sich aus.
