This was our second time at Marcookās. The first time was 5/5 stars. The second time 3/5 stars. The food is really good. Tastes authentic American. But..
The cocktail menu doesnāt have prices. You have to ask how much each drink costs. Thatās too much of a hassle for me. So no cocktailā¦
We were there last night and were shocked that they turned the restaurant into a buffet at 40⬠a person. We had already made a reservation and decided to stay. Ended up paying 100⬠for a 3 course meal and didnāt eat that much. Buffets just arenāt our thing. Also I donāt go to a restaurant to serve myself my own food. I prefer to order from a menu and have a waiter. Things today are becoming too automated.
There is a difference between fresh brisket and buffet brisket. Buffet brisket tastes soggy. I like my brisket to have that little bit of char crisp on the edge and the rest of the meat fall apart. The soggyness ruined it for me.
I donāt mind paying for a nice meal. But my husband and I donāt eat a lot and often end up taking home leftovers. Sometimes we share a main course. We like good food, atmosphere and good service is important to us.
I was sad they stopped making loaded fries. We were looking forward to trying that but it was not possible.
As much as we like the food and the location we donāt know if we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat menu, great food, great venue. I was very impressed when I saw the menu @marcook. This is a well thought out/researched menu. Not too big, just the things you want. After many great reviews from friends, I was very excited to visit. I wasn't disappointed. We arrived early and sat outside for a few beers. The setting is great, nestled in on the edge of a forest. It's out of the way, very much a destination ,which only adds to the charm. When I saw a mountainous bowl nacho's slathered with oozing cheddar sauce delivered to another table I thought, yeah this guy means business. we're gonna have good night. Of course we had to have the Nachos to start along with the fireball bone marrow. Both dishes were great. Packed with flavour and generous portions. For mains we pretty much all had the brisket which was cooked exactly how you would hope. Can't wait to back and try more dishes off the menu. I'd recommend booking in advance as every table was taken with happy smiling guests. Good work Marcook and see...
Read moreCompared to 2 months ago, service (3/5), quality of food (3/5), ambience (3/5) lost 2 stars. No price is provided in advance when you reserve a table online or look on their website. Buffet style is priced with 40⬠per person excluding drinks. In past, I paid around 35⬠per person with more options (ordering a-la-card) including a starter, main dish, desert and drink. Thus, I now paid +30% more (50⬠instead of 35⬠p.p.) for a smaller food range of main dishes (buffet) and no option for choosing a desert. In this price class, there are more appealing alternatives in Enschede area and I hope the restaurant returns to the style and pricing it earned them...
