Ribhouse Texas Boekelo — Restaurant in Enschede

PERFECT! Our family is from Texas, but currently living in Amsterdam, and we made the trek out to Boekelo just to have Texas food on Texas Independence Day and it did not dissappoint. The restaurant structure itself was worth the trip and our kids could not get enough of all the decorations and atmosphere inside. From wooden statues, to the jail cells to hang your coats in (on horse shoes no less), the animal exhibits and the giant Texas flag hanging over our table. Our kids were in Heaven! We were priviledged enough to even met the owner who was so gracious and provided our kids each with their own Ribhouse Texas cowboy/cowgirl hat. They were in heaven and helped our family take a step out of our international home and into our home we left behind. Though I will say this place may be more Texas than anywhere in Texas, which is exactly what we were looking for on the occasion of Texas' birthday.

The food was excellent and the portion sizes even for the kids were generous. They even have rib options for children in addition to the normal kid meal options including hot dogs, chicken nuggets, and one of the best hamburgers i've had in the Netherlands (I know it was my son's but I couldn't help myself from sharing it from him haha).

You could tell they put a lot of time and attention to their restaurant and had lots of guests considering the relatively quiet location on a Monday night. Apparently if it's your birthday, the lights all turn out and they shine the spot light on you and sing Niel Diamond's Sweet Caroline. At least that's what we think we witnessed and we had a blast singing along.

Nice environment and atmosphere. Those alergic to peanuts should not enter as there are peanuts served as snack and the shells are omnipresent. The staff is friendly but young and not knowledgeable about the menu. The food is disappointing if you're been to a good place in TX. There is a focus on large portions of meat (which was decent) and far to little focus on side dishes. The coleslaw has no edge, and the potatoe salad tastes nothing else than mayonnaise. I missed meal salads on the menu, such as a steak salad with ranch dressing. There were no inspiring vegetarian options. Why not an tasty Portobello burger? I would recommend the chef to go to the Texas hill country, Austin or San Antonio to get inspiration for...

As a frequent customer, I can say that Ribhouse Texas in Boekelo is A very nice place. The decoration and the environment are quite unique!.they have a very very cozy place. But Lately they changed the menu a bit (less frites in a portion for 2(pity) less nice salad as companion(also pity) increased prices which is understandable ). Still the meat is incredibly delicious!
