After arriving in groningen and experimenting most of italian restaurants in the city, I decided to try Il Lago. I was a greeted by a familiar and homely environment, that combined with the light music playing in the background gave off the perfect atmosphere you look for in a place like this. We experimented one of the italian wine options and opted for the pino grigio, which was just fenomenal. We started by trying the italian proovarij as it was recommended by our sommelier. It was just fantastic. Then we tried the pizzas and the experience was just getting better. The food was surprisingly fast and the portions were very favourable. We ended up by getting the tasty e addictive home made tiramisu complemented with two wonderful scropinos and to close out our night a pair of authentic italian capuccinos. I tried Il Lago restaurant with a group of friends, and I have to say it was outstanding. The location is beautiful and very bright, as it overlooks the lake in Groningen. Dani and Karlijn, the owners, were incredibly kind and made us feel at home, just like the rest of the team. The dishes were authentically Italian, we started with the Sharing Italian appetizer, which included a variety of Italian specialties such as cured meats, bruschetta, and cheeses. The food is amazing and the staff is usually very nice. We also like the owner a lot because he likes to personally check in with guests. However, last night it appeared it was not longer possible to pay separately. We don't understand why, as this was still possible a couple of months ago. Furthermore, it was late and the place was quiet, so it's not like staff was in a hurry to process us. The staff guy was a bit rude to us and told us just to use the tikkie app instead, and have one of us pay the entire sum. Naturally, this escalated a bit.
