Restaurant De Kolk — Restaurant in Haarlem

We have had some very enjoyable meal here in the past. But not anymore! Huge disappointment! They must have new kitchen help. Sorry to say the young lady who waited on us also needs a LOT more training. What I was served today was flat out disgusting. First I found a very long blond hair in my food. But becouse it took nearly an hour to get it and I understand it would take far too long to get our waitresses attention, I removed the hair and went on. I was super hungry. Soon I realized that the tinny about of avocado was rotten, black, discussing. Then I noticed that the very over dressed lettuce was also rotten, wilted and brown. Gross! The stewed pear was nonexistent. So I pick out what was okay to eat. Only the cheese was in eatable shape. Or so I hope it was. It was deep fried. 80% off this dish was not for human consumption. My friend who took me to luch complained to our server. She came back and told us that all the food is fresh. Insult to injury. In other words they called us stupid. So the food "Very overpriced for what it was" is unedible, but comes with a side of hair. But don't worry you still need to pay for it. Never again! You lost...

Let's start with the atmosphere. Nice place, actually really nice place. 🤩 Great service they are so attentive, just waited for a while, but it was really ok, time to chat, chill and enjoy friends. The food and my misunderstanding of Dutch menu was the problem. 2 persons think they fish was barely raw, but ok to eat. My dish at very first time was really raw. They cooked a little more and was good. About the amazing service, they heated my meal twice, they was really nice with me. And now comes the real problem to me, I didn't understand the menu and the price. I paid 71 Eur for a dish. For me it's too expensive. I was thinking the cost was the half of this as the number I saw in menu €35.5 pp . I didn't pay attention for "pp" letters after the number wich one means something like, per person. Came here for lunch, choosing a place based on great reviews. We’re created and seated inside. Then sat at a table for 30 minutes, entertaining our 4 months old, trying to get any attention from one of the servers. The place was moderately busy with plenty of empty tables, but we were demonstratively ignored. Had high hopes to enjoy the time, but eventually we had to pack and leave, hungry and upset at a ruined day.
