Venneper Lodge — Restaurant in Haarlemmermeer

My friend wanted to eat here since he came here often due to the accessibility with the wheelchair. I on the other hand never visited this place before. When I went inside the interior gave a warm welcome, it felt really pleasing already.

We started our dinner with a “Smulplankje” (€7.50 p.p) which had all types of different appetizers which we both enjoyed. Also I had the “Vennepers Blond” a unique brew made for the restaurant which was great!

For our main course my friend ordered a pancake with cheese and bacon (€11) and I ordered the spareribs (€22), these were really tender and easy to pull of from the bone. We did need to wait a while to get our second drink which was a bummer.

As dessert I ordered a Brownie cheesecake (which was the chefs dessert) with a Kiss of Fire (€9)(an alcoholic coffee drink). Overall I really enjoyed the first time staying here and I would recommend...

My mom and eat here quite often since we live close. The quality of the food is usually outstanding. However, the prices are not really compatible with the portion sizes. I got a banana bread with yogurt and granola, for which I paid 10 euros. I got two small pieces of bread and a super thin layer of yogurt with maybe one spoon of granola and 2 cut up strawberries . Even though the taste was great, when you describe something as a breakfast dish it’s not normal if you leave still feeling hungry I guess... My mom got the omelet which was delicious and she doesn’t eat much for breakfast anyways so she had no problems. If the portions would have been bigger or they would have compensated me somehow when I told them I felt it was very little I would definitely have given this restaurant...

NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN During the whole period everything went well ! Food was good and we all enjoyed our timing ….however after spending more than 200 euros as part of a larger bill with fiends, we asked the waiter to fill with tap water the bottle of our little girl as we had a long trip back home. They did not want to do it and when complaining with the manager the excuse was that someone else had asked it before and they cannot simply do that for all the clients. Is it really the way you want to treat your clients ?? Myself as a restaurant owner in the past I find unacceptable to treat a client this way. Specially because the request was for a little kid and were the whole afternoon spending money in the restaurant . Absolutely disappointing….never coming back to this...
