Restaurant Landgoed Groenendaal — Restaurant in Heemstede

The experience was disappointing. We have been wanting to go there for a while based on the reviews and we chose to go to celebrate my birthday. It was definitely a decision I regret. The staff was disinterested, the food mediocre and extremely pricy for what they offered. We ordered four appetizers and none of them was very good. The shrimp croquets were just some basic bitterballen but with fish inside, the salmon dish was literally salmon arranged on a plate with red onion on one side and sour cream on the other (no effort), the egg mayonnaise was the only one a bit more tasty and the escargots were the cherry on top in a bad way. Once I took a bite of the escargots my mouth was full of sand. They were not washed at all. The dish was sent o the kitchen and I got a short apology and a mention that the chef agrees + that they have a third party that delivers them so not their fault. The main dish turnedo rossini was good but nothing extraordinary nor Michelin guide worthy. This food + two soft drinks costed 146 euros. At the end we were not asked how was the food or the experience nor were we offered anything complimentary to make up for the mistake with the escargots or the errors in the service. Lastly, the staff does not have the training required for a fine dine restaurant and when we arrived for the first 15 min all we could hear was their loud chit chat in the kitchen and loud singing.

We will definitely not come back and do not recommend it. It is not Michelin...

There is a restaurant which serves a high quality of dishes. It is not a "eat as much as you can" kind of place. If the weather is nice you can sit outside otherwise the views from inside are also lovely as this is located in the middle of a great forest. Free parking outside.
