KFC — Restaurant in Hengelo

The food was ok. It’s hard to make chicken taste like something else than chicken but the rest wasn’t that good of an experience. The napkins were behind the counter so you have to ask for them. That isn’t quite that big of an issue, but they should be in a place where you as a customer can easily access instead of having to wait for the workers to finish what they’re doing and then assist you. The worst part about the experience were the toilets. They were hard to find in the first place since they were on the second floor hidden in a corner. There were signs in the tall roof so it took two tries to just find them. The second you go in you are greeted with a sharp smell of urine. Smelling urine in a public bathroom isn’t unusual, but the smell was incredibly strong in this one. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned since opening day. The toilet was clogged and full of toilet paper. Lucky I only went in there to wash my hands after eating my food but I couldn’t even do that without problems. The cover for the soap dispenser was detached from the dispenser and just laying on the sink so I had to find out how it worked in order to get some soap on my hands. When I was done washing my hands, I had to of course wipe them but they only had the ones that blow air which is unhygienic. It’s cheap and all but you feel dirty after using them so I had to go out with wet hands and dry them in the air. The only positive thing about the bathroom was that in order to open the door from inside, you had to push it so I didn’t have to touch it with my newly washed hands. Overall it was the complete opposite of a good experience. I get that it’s a fast food restaurant and all but hygiene is the bare minimum. The food was mediocre (not warm and barely crispy), we got it in around 10 mins. The problem was the state of the bathrooms and the dirty dishes. One bathroom stall did not have available toilet paper, and the other one's flush panel was on the floor in the other stall. It's clear that they do not clean the bathrooms enough. The plastic cups were also dirty. This was me and my family's first experience at a KFC, and I do not think we will ever go to another KFC again. Vandaag, zondag 5-2-2012, voor het eerst sinds een tijdje, weer eens bij KFC Hengelo geweest, om de vegetarische snacks uit te proberen. Ze smaakten redelijk, maar de bediening was beneden alle peil.

Na het eten hadden we wel trek in een ijsje en koffie. Ik was de enige aan de balie, maar moest toch wachten, omdat de erg jonge bediening nog niet klaar was met het grappig zijn onderling. Uiteindelijk kwam er een jongen naar mij toe, om mijn bestelling op te nemen. Dat ging ongeveer vijftien seconden goed, totdat een andere jongen van het personeel het nodig vond, om iets op het gezicht van de jongen, die mij hielp, te smeren. Deze rende nu achter de jongen aan, die iets in zijn gezicht smeerde en liet mij dus weer wachten. Sorry hoor, maar ik had geen zin om weer te wachten totdat ze klaar waren met onderling grappig zijn!

Ik begrijp dat KFC de personeelskosten zo laag mogelijk wil houden, maar als dit het niveau van de bediening is, dan ben ik wel klaar met KFC Hengelo! Jammer, want de vegetarische snacks waren wel smakelijk. Helaas niet smakelijk genoeg om me bovenomschreven gedrag te laten welgevallen.

Eerlijkheid gebied mij wel te vermelden, dat er één jongen zeer klantvriendelijk was. Hij viel waarschijnlijk buiten de groep, die het onderling erg grappig had. Hij wenste ons "smakelijk eten", was erg druk met het schoonmaken en wenste ons bij vertrek "nog een prettige dag verder!". Daar kregen wij een blij gevoel van en wat staat het in schril contrast met de bediening, die ons zo respectloos bejegende.

Laatste opmerking: de kleding van de bediening zag er niet al te fris uit. Ik weet dat het geen sterrenrestaurant is, maar nette/schone kleding is toch niet te veel gevraagd? Het geeft toch weer hoe KFC omgaat met de...
