English version: You may not realize the real 'Dutch Brown Café' has been for ages a historic and cultural aspect of social daily life in the Netherlands. (Compare it to the 'English Pub'). One of the true greatest examples of this is Café Moeke Spijkstra in Blaricum which has been popular since ages until today. A 'youger' sister/brother (oké, 'family member') is Café Moeke in the village of Maartensdijk border of City of Hilversum. All the curiosa & bric a brac from times gone will bring back in nostalgic athmospheres. What a (as we say it in Dutch, 'gezellige sfeer'). The lady in service couldn't believe I had over 13 million views on Google maps and said I was a true 'ancient reviewer' she never had heared anything like it and I promised her just wait and see ! (it early spring april 2025 and it took me till late summer but Voila!) If in the neighbourhood you must get a taste of Café Moeke and tell back home you know now all about the life in a Dutch Brown Café. (including persian tapestry (old Dutch tradition) on the tables!)

Very nice, typically Dutch brown cafe just around the corner from the Hollandse rading train station. Good selection of food ranging from simple yet delicious sandwiches to Lobster thermador. Prices range from around €8 to €30 and the food quality was excellent. As with most good cafes they offer all types of drinks both alcoholic and not. We have a lovely lunch there. Plenty of parking too.

Reply: It is not all about the payment, You asked what we would like to drink without offering a menu. Not nice but ok. You decided what beer and which size I would like to have, absolutely not ok. I tried to pay contactless with my phone, as I always do, it did not work. I understood that making your costumer feel miserable in this situation is your only option. Because I offered to pay in all other possible ways and you refused. You only accepted to send me a tikkie with 50% penalty after many times I askd you. That didn't work as well. You didn't care to double check my phone number and instead said it is not a dutch phone number. You also said you close soon (it was 9.45 pm and you said you close at 10 pm) Finally, only for a few euros bill you ask to keep my mobile phone. You refused keeping my smart watch instead. Very strange. Even a guy sitting nearby ask to pay for me after he saw this situation. You didn't agree. I put my phone there. Went back home with my bike and luckily called you at 10.50 pm and understood you are still open, but will close in 10 minutes. I reached you in 10 minutes (god knows how fast I drove), paid the bill and took my phone, stayed outside another 10 minutes. You were functioning like normal. Now I see in your website that closing hour in 12 pm. Strange from a...

Perfect restaurant for 60+, who have rarely ventured outside of the Netherlands. This is a lovely old style dutch restaurant. It has potential , with a better chef ! Good concept. They have a great classic dutch / French style menu. Really good locally sourced produce. A varied seasonal menu. Looks amazing on paper. Sadly Really badly cooked food. The chef is obviously not experienced at all. He needs to go back to school. Such a shame. I ordered a shrimp cocktail, It was served, with a fully shelled shrimp, eyeballs, intestines intact and everything deep fried. Seriously ? Shrimps are never served like that , anywhere! Asked for medium /well filet steak. Was overdone, vegetables nearly raw, Fries overdone. Truffelsaus was nice. Don't come here if you are used to modern and well cooked food. Completely disappointed 😞 I tried to take my gin and tonic home with me , to ease my pain of having to Pay €90 for such crap. My bad! Was stopped by the waitress. Apparently they are low on glasses as well as...

We were excited to try this place after seeing great reviews and a kitchen advertised as open until 10:30. After a long day of travel, we arrived at 9:45—well before closing. Unfortunately, despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we were told only drinks (and later, just appetizers) were available. This was disappointing and made us feel unwelcome, especially as the website gave no indication of an earlier kitchen closure. The staff were polite and helped us with the appetizer menu, but overall service was lacking—water glasses went empty, we had to ask for napkins and utensils, and our table was cleared before we finished. There was also no drink menu provided, and the beer pour was small. If the kitchen closes early, it should be clearly communicated online and at the entrance. Hospitality and honesty matter, especially to tired travelers. We might have given five stars if the experience matched the restaurant’s reputation, but as it was, we left...
