Bij Christoffel — Restaurant in Horst aan de Maas

I had the 300g tournedos with pepper sauce, and my girlfriend the surf and turf skewer. The steak was tender and cooked to order (medium), very tasty. Fries were very hot fresh out of the oil it seems (was a bit of shine to them but they weren't too greasy for me). Overall the food was good, but given the prices we expected a bit more from it (either bigger portion like more prawns on the skewer, or another side included, not just cauliflower mash).

The staff were also friendly. However another reason for only three stars is that we sat inside and there was a bit of an unpleasant smell from the toilet floating around. Some of the tables seemed to have a staff file on it and boxes from the inventory on the benches instead of packed away from customers which isn't the most professional setting to sit around.

The food is way too spicey and it’s cayenne peper which destroys the taste of anything you eat. They mix up dishes: hot sauce where it says soya sauce, no avocado where it says avocado. They waitress will tell you with a straith face that the menu says it’s spicey, which it isn’t Pokebowls are tasteless and the guagamole is salty and from a can.

The location is great, service is below par.. they did change the dish for something else, but it was clear they reused the ingredients as it was still spicey whil it shouldn’t

Even the burger had the same spicey sauce while the menu said it was another sauce.

Orginal: Very nice restaurant, great food, friendly service and an absolute stunning location on the banks of the river Maas. On the other side is the Hertog Jan brewery. Top notch!!!

Then came Corona: Was delegated to the terras in cold weather. I tried to make the best of it, as pure blood. But oh no, that wasn't good enough. Was treated badly by some early 20th year old waitress, as I was "arrogant or antisocial". It didn't matter what I said, that I refuse to take the KILL SHOTS, always! Now they are bankrupt! Do I feel sorry? Nope. You choose the wrong side. Karma...
