Rose Garden — Restaurant in Leidschendam-Voorburg

Despite the service being very good, the food was unfortunately disappointing. I'm not sure why this place has such good reviews and I usually would not write a review if I didn't like a restaurant but I felt that this was necessary.

We ordered the Cantonese set for two, and although the portions were very generous, the dishes tasted bad. We didn't have a second serving after the first. I'm a bit concerned that they served us leftover food from a previous day because some of the meat had an odd taste and smelled as though it had started to rot. If it wasn't leftover food then this is just bad food. I also suspect that some of the food came out of cans. I don't mind canned food if it tastes good but you don't go to a restaurant and pay nearly 60 euros to eat canned food.

I have eaten Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and other Asian cuisines in various countries and loved it so I can't say that I'm being bias or prejudiced about Chinese cuisine. I just don't think it was good and fresh food that was served to us. I understand some reviewers said that the food tastes like Dutch Chinese food so that Dutch can eat it but that wasn't our problem. The food just didn't taste fresh and good.

We went for lunch there on a Sunday and the place was empty, so I really suspect they served us leftovers.

I would not recommend this place and I hope the owners will be more mindful of what they serve...

The restaurant in question serves Chinese and Indonesian style dishes. The food and service is downright bad. The fried rice ordered wasn't neither Chinese, Indonesian or any Asian related. One got cheap oil fried rice with sone sliver of ham, guess from the tin with two slices of cold ham on top. Tastes greasy. Ordered fried fish with sweet and sour sauce. The actual dish served was deep-fried battered fish with a sweet sauce with some tin fruits swimming on top. Just gross. Argued with the restaurant owner and eventually changed to Shezhuan chilli beef. Passable only....

Rose Garden liep ik jarenlang tijdens het boodschappen doen vlot voorbij. (Omdat ik meestal in Kantonese restaurants eet)

Totdat ik eens aan de achterzijde de banner voor lopend buffet zag voor een prijs waar je nergens meer zo goedkoop kan eten. Dus dan toch maar eens de proef op de som nemen.

Rose Garden is een net restaurant, hygiënisch en supervriendelijk personeel. De inrichting is zo, dat we bij een volle bezetting totaal geen last hadden van andere gasten. Een middelgroot restaurant met een zeer knusse sfeer en juiste belichting.

Er loopt veel personeel rond om iedereen aan de lopende band van dienst te zijn. Lopend buffet of à la carte, niets is het personeel te veel. Het buffet (ruime keuze uit de standaard Chin.&Ind. gerechten) wordt constant aangevuld en het eten is vers bereid. Wat je van een goed Chinees-Indisch restaurant kan verwachten is hier aanwezig. Extra zijn de Ha Kau (garnaalpasteitje) en Sieuw Mai (garnaal/varkensvleespasteitje) en gelukkig gestoomd zoals het hoort ipv gefrituurd De bami en nasi zijn voor sommigen wellicht wat 'kaal', maar bij het buffet is het een bijgerecht, dus dan hoef je niet verwachten dat er veel prei of stukjes vlees/ei in zit. Voor de Haaivinnesoep en Tomatensoep kan je zelf de hoeveel extra ingrediënten toevoegen. Voor €23,80 per persoon (excl.drankjes) krijg je echt enorm (veel) waar voor dat geld.
