Only the kindness of the staff deserves the 5 stars, otherwise, it was a disappointment that cost more than its real value. The apartment (which costs 150 euros a day!) Was supposed to have a kitchen and everything you need. But when we arrived after a long trip our surprise was that after charging us in advance, the apartment was not ready for check-in (2 pm) and was given to us at 3.45 pm. We made a request for compensation for this huge disservice (I did not expect everything, but fair compensation for the missed service) but the management replied with Booking.com that they did not understand the reason for the request. I think if you have the idea of spending 150 euros a night to celebrate your anniversary (as we would have liked to do), you should look for a better place than Hajé Hotel Restaurant de Lepelaar.
Cosa non è piaciuto · The kitchen and the refrigerator were the only things present, there was not even a bottle of water and only two small containers with salt and pepper, so cooking anything was impossible as there is not even a supermarket near where you can buy the necessary: oil, butter, milk, sugar or coffee for breakfast (which we were forced to make in the restaurant at a price of 14.50 euros per person) also lacked soap for dishes and for the dishwasher which, therefore, was unusable (what's the point of having a kitchen and not having anything from the hotel to use it?). There was no hairdryer in the bathroom either and we had to ask for toilet paper as there was only a small roll (used!). To complete the discomfort, the apartment only has a "view" of the garden which as it is under renovation is quite messy and in the morning there were people walking around inside with total lack of our privacy as there are many large closed windows. There are no opening windows, only two very small ones and the air cannot circulate since the garden door is also locked, and only after our repeated requests were we given the key to use as an emergency exit in case of emergency (since to get to the apartment you have to go up a series of stairs (so very complicated if you have luggage). Then our stay was disturbed until late at night by the unbearable noises coming from the suites above the apartment and which we had to endure as at 11 pm the reception closes and no one could solve the problem. My wife was sick during the night but I could not even prepare an infusion because there was nothing in the kitchen (tea, etc). Now our Wedding anniversary has been ruined. Fortunately, the memory of this beautiful Dutch region that is...

Read moreBeautiful location, dining area is also great. But food & service are just terrible for the price. You’ll get better value at McDonald’s or gas stations - or just cook at home, eating here is just frustrating.
Dry, sauceless braised beef (which turns out to be chicken, unseasoned schnitzel, slow & ignorant service (one waiter provided a decent service though, so good for him), experience are just disappointing.
Oh and you pay €0.50 to use their toilet. Yes, even if you eat at their restaurant. The toilet was also not well-kept. Dirty, humid, tissue everywhere on the sink, just no.
Was planning to stay at the hotel in the future, but after our dining experience, we doubt...
