I had a very bad experience with this restaurant. I was here today with my friends and their little baby, and we all are Indians. So let me review this place - Food : We had a lot of expectations since it is highly rated on Google. However, coming from an Indian, the food is quite subpar in taste and we can safely say there are MUCH better Indian restaurants out here. Service : While I can still excuse the food, the service here, as rightly said by others, is terrible. You can also check the response this restaurant gives to honest reviews here. So coming back to the service, this middle-aged lady with huge eyes (I assume she is from the owners family?) who was serving dishes, was utterly RUDE and disrespectful and was constantly ignoring us with angry glances and snarky replies for no reason. There were so many instances of her rudeness which I was trying to ignore because we had a long day and we just wanted to eat. But one such incident was the final straw for me - So basically, my friend by mistake ordered “dal makhani” instead of “dal tadka” and when it arrived I didn’t expect it. So we confirmed it with them, and indeed it was a mistake from our side. So that lady, in a rather unmannerly and angry tone said - “we can’t do anything about it and now dal tadka will take time!!! “. Now some people in business who have some sense, could have politely offered us to also make dal tadka for us, and we would have gladly waited, thereby being nice and also earning money for the extra dish. But man was I wrong. What triggered me more, is that the table beside us were complaining to the other server regarding their food, and that lady happily joined the conversation when they didn’t even call her for that, and with a huge smile was ready to accommodate them instantly. Now mind you - ours was the ONLY table with Indians, and the whole restaurant was filled with Dutchies/white people. Do with this information what...
Read moreFood is decent but service is poor! It was a long wait before we were able to order our food on a Thursday evening. Then, the food didn't come out for another 40+ minutes.
My husband ordered a Cola light (2.25 EURO) and I ordered a hot "water" because I don't drink tea. The owner charged us for the hot "water" (2.25 EURO) as a hot "tea". REALLY?!!!
We are very disappointed. Especially we weren't informed that it would be charged as a hot "tea" when it wasn't really "tea".
After we ate and ready to pay, we had to wait for another 10-15 minutes. No wonder a couple who came before us left unhappy after they paid for their 2 soft drinks. This was during our 40+ minutes wait for our food to come out.
We are in town for a week and thought about coming back at first because we like Indian food and Sher E Punjab is familiar to us in the State but don't think we will come back again or recommend anyone. The wait...
Read moreThe restaurant itself is simple and quiet in terms of the decoration, with soft Indian music in the background. The food, like the interior is honest to a fault. This has been an excellent experience.
We had Samosas that were buttery and fragrant, the dal soup was fantastic, the chicken tikka was so juicy and herby, with a tinge of acid, it was excellent. For mains, we had okra, lamb, naan and rice, all of which were splendid, but honorable mentions go to the peshawari naan, it was so tasty, I could have easily made a meal of it.
I've been to many Indian restaurants in Amsterdam, Sneek, England, Luzern and a variety of other places, but on the continent, so far, nothing has beaten these people's home made food. It is reminiscent of a place I used to frequent in Stockholm, now sadly defunct, also run by North-Indian folks.
Anyway, we were both delighted with the experience, and will...
