Had a High tea here a while ago and found our experiences to be average at most.

I had reserved a spot a week before for three people, including one dietary restriction and asked them the question on the reservation form if that was possible to accommodate. I waited five days before giving them a call if they actually received the reservation and if they could accommodate for that restriction. The lady mentioned that was possible, yet a customer confirming with the company is not how a business should be ran.

Upon arrival there was ample parking opportunity, the building looked beautiful from the outside and the nature that surrounds the actual property makes it quite serene.

After making our way in we got seated and noticed the table not having been set properly and fully, which the server apologized for and finished setting after we sat down. It took them after seating us 35min to give us our welcome drink and start the high tea, which is an absurd amount of waiting time. I do have to mention that the alcohol free tea-sparkle was quite palatable and a nice touch!

The starter was a pumpkin coconut soup (gluten and dairy free) which lacked flavour, punch and overall depth.

After the entre the sweet, savoury pastries and sandwiches came out. Of the sandwich plate there was one with brie, one with salmon and lastly one with a croquette.

As for the pastries, every single pastry was extremely sweet to essentially eating pure sugar. What surprised me the most is that they even had a super sugary scone, which as we know should not be sugary. (Depending on the amount of jam/cream you add to that of course).

This was the same matter for the carrot cake, muffin, chocolate croissant and cinnamon bun. Essentially every pastry was way too sweet and it spoiled the essence of the food.

They also served a separate platter with macarons and vails with a yoghurt substance which was also sweet, yet we found it that be a lot more palatable.

For this high tea they have 5 flavours of tea available, yet only three of the five options actually set on the table. Throughout your high tea you can refill and drink as much tea as you like.

Our overall experience is that this place is trying to be something they are not (yet). The aesthetics are nice, yet can definitely be improved in terms of safety, construction and experience. And the fact that every pastry was soo sweet, must come from that they purchase their items and don't make it themselves?

I feel that 3/5 stars might actually be on the high end of rating this company and our experience, and there is definitely room for...

Had lunch here with a friend. Easy to find by car, situated on the quiet north bounds of Meppel. Unique venue, where you find yourself seated inside a huge lime kiln - which may be something you like. We had the place to ourselves, which made sense after being greeted with mild content - which I don't mind. Service remained slow and unwelcoming - which I do mind. The menu looked okay but did not spark choice overload. We settled on a carpaccio and something that was advertised as succulent chicken thigh. Unfortunately the chicken on sale was another breed of poultry altogether and the term 'succulent' did not remotely apply. Kudo's for the mushroom and arancini bitterballs, despite being a little too greasy on the inside. Perhaps turn the fryer up a bit?

All in all not a bad place for lunch. The reception and service is something to work on - although maybe the staff was just having a bad day. The menu is on the safe side, which is agreeable but the...

In comparison with the old owners, this guys really try to do better. Service is improved and friendly and professional, food is good but not perfect with frozen items. 48 minutes waiting after ordering is a bit to long in my opinion and over 5000 restaurant visit experience. Food tickets not handled in queue how they come in but seemed random. But overall a nice experience in a nice atmosphere and still going on improvement. Well done and deserve for sure a visit. Next visit was 09-03-2022. Food was not of the same quality as before i was disappointed. The duck breast was to rauw and hard to bite. Veal meat was good, pastinak wellington was average. Hope the menu card will change and quality will be better next time. In the summer still a great place to sit and have a drink outside. Therefore still worth 4 stars

We went there for our anniversary and they were super kind to leave us a nice card on the table. The restaurant is very chic, just a little too dark. We took 3 courses (starter main and dessert), the tartare was amazing and set high standards for the rest of the dinner, but the other plates were not at the same level unfortunately. Still good and well presented though. Staff was friendly and professional, and prices are fair we paid less than 60€/p with 2 glasses of wine each.
