Helen's Bakery — Restaurant in Middelburg

Initially was impressed with Helens bakery. Quickly changed that opinion. Sandwich quality is very hit and miss. Have found a long brown hair running through my sandwich on one occasion and have now been told that I cannot request to have my sandwich made the way I would like it as it is too complicated for their staff to prepare. Seeing as I merely requested that they put the salad in after the sandwich filling this is worrying that they find this task so troubling. Was limited to either helens or mcdonalds for my lunch breaks due to location. Will stick to McDonald's from now on as their staff find basic tasks easier...

Quality is going down the drain. When Helen's Bakery opened few years back, they had nice tasty sandwiches with lot of filling. Every time I go I ask for same sandwiches and quality gets worse. This morning we got: Chickencurry - Little filling and it didn't have any flavour. Egg salad and bacon - thin strip of bacon just on the edfe of the sandwich to make it look full. Almost no egg salad. First bite was just bread. Roastbeef - I felt insulted. Dry, no sauce. No cheese.Almost no roastbeef and just few leaves of rucula. I didn't taste the pine nuts.

Its very disappointing to write a comment like this , in the past I considered this place better than ‘t smoske but this morning I went here and I found some sort of trick. I noticed my sandwich didn’t taste like in the past and I opened it and I found they put the goat cheese at the border of the sandwich to make it look full while it was nearly empty.
