Really nice restaurant with a nice view.

Dinning was really good, you get a fantastic experience. Nonetheless, I believe there are several things that could improve.

For example, as a non-fluent-dutch speaker, I felt not really welcomed by what I now know is the owner of the restaurant. She felt a bit condescending by the fact that I was not communicating 100% in Dutch. She brought, without asking, the English menu for me and the Dutch menu for my partner... even though y partner is French and doesn't speak any Dutch. Maybe I misinterpreted things and body language, but that is what I felt.

Also, the service was extremely long. We arrived when the restaurant opened at 18:00 and we finished between 22:00 and 23:00. I am aware that when you go to fine dinning you take your time to enjoy, but I think this is definitely too much waiting time between 5 courses.

And me and my partner enjoyed that the sommelier wanted to introduce some Dutch wine into the pairing because we were looking to try local wine without any luck. Unfortunately we discovered that we didn't like it at all... but I guess that is more of a matter of taste.

Anyway, it is a nice restaurant. If you are not in any hurry, is summer (the view is spectacular) and you have a sizable budget I recommend it. But I do believe that for less money you can get similar/better experiences in other...

Restaurant Aan de Zweth blijft een stijlvolle locatie om relaties te ontvangen. Het restaurant staat onder nieuw management en is inmiddels zijn Michelinster kwijt. Dat ontdekten we pas toen we al aan tafel zaten — en dat viel tegen, juist omdat die ster precies was wat we onze gasten wilden bieden.

We hadden vooraf gekozen voor het zomermenu. De gerechten waren verzorgd en technisch netjes uitgevoerd, maar nergens verrassend. Het enige dat werkelijk memorabel was, was de naturel geserveerde oester — die was ronduit heerlijk. De wijnpairing bij de gangen was uitstekend en zorgvuldig gekozen. De kwaliteit van de patisserie bij de koffie daarentegen matig.

De bediening was adequaat en welwillend, maar tegelijk afstandelijk en weinig hartelijk. Die stijl hield men consequent vol tot aan ons vertrek — zonder groet of dankwoord.

Alles afwegend geef ik het geheel een mager zesje op een schaal van 0 tot 10. Dat is jammer, want ik ben ervan overtuigd dat ze het bij Aan de Zweth wél in de vingers hebben. Misschien troffen wij gewoon een mindere avond. Komen wij terug? Voorlopig zeker niet. Andere restaurants in dit segment zijn beter.

De ochtend na ons bezoek ontvingen we een verzoek om een recensie te plaatsen via Formitable (van Zenchef). Die uitnodiging leek afkomstig van het restaurant zelf. Reviews die via dit kanaal worden geschreven, worden eerst aan het restaurant gestuurd, dat vervolgens beslist of ze al, dan niet niet integraal worden gepubliceerd op externe profielen of op de eigen website. Dat maakt de kans groot dat vooral juichverhalen zichtbaar zijn.

Door op deze manier proactief alle gasten te sturen richting een gecontroleerd platform, wordt voorkomen dat spontane, minder positieve beoordelingen op onafhankelijke kanalen zoals Google Bedrijfsprofiel verschijnen — en dat is nu juist het platform waarop wij onze keuze baseerden. Voor mij is dit dan ook een pleidooi om dergelijke uitnodigingen vriendelijk te negeren en uw recensie rechtstreeks bij Google...

Located next to the bridge across the little river Zweth you'll find the namesake restaurant Aan de Zweth. If the weather allows there is a beautiful riverside terrace, but the restaurant interior is also worthwhile with Delftware style decorations inspired by the region.

The food is amazing! We opted for the Signature menu and it exceeded our expectations. Very smart combinations of flavours and ingredients with impeccable presentation. Both the wine pairing and the non-alcoholic drinks pairing were a very good match with the food.
