De Gouden Leeuw — Restaurant in Moerdijk

This is a hotel pretending to be a truckstop or a truckstop pretending to be a hotel with a restaurant. One thing is sure - for a truckstop they for sure hate trucks. They've done a lot to prove that.

First pros: Location. It's a 1,5km walk to a train station where you can catch a train to Rotterdam , Amsterdam and many other places you desire. Good base for weekend sight seeing.

Space. The parking is really big. I had no problem finding a place during the weekend.

Cons: Everything else. Prepare to be treated as a second category.. thing. It was closed on Saturday because of whatever so no toilet for you. The only toilet is inside. It's free to use but it's accessible only when they are open. Ok, Sunday they opened at 12. No toilet until then for you. I don't know what time did they close but at 21:00 it's closed again and no toilet for you.

To be honest, I had to use a nearest toilet in... Dordrecht. Yes, for real. I just walked 1,5km, took a train to Dordrecht (every 30min, 10 min ride) and paid 0.5€ for a toilet at the station. That's how thoughtful is this "truckstop" regarding toilets.

When they are open, you can pay for the parking. The price is 25€ with a 15€ voucher for food. You can pay a few euros extra for some meals or to get a chicken with fries and salad. Food for you is a take away only. They don't want you - a trucker - in their restaurant. Simple as that. Know your place, you don't deserve to be seated. Ah, and food for you is only available between 12 and 17. They will refuse to serve you outside these hours even though they are open.

But don't be sad. The food was mediocre and the chicken fillet.. dry and not very appealing. I've eaten a lot better food for 15€ in places where I could sit and relax.

Personally I think this place is a total disgrace. I read reviews and decided to park here only because of the proximity of the train station as I wanted to visit Rotterdam. Otherwise I would avoid this unpleasant experience at all costs.

So, if you still want to park here - use the toilet in advance somewhere else and prepare...

Parking by the highway for the day €25, including €15 for food on the weekend ONLY FOR TAKE AWAY from 12-7 p.m. after 7 p.m. forget to order food with a voucher even though you had to sleep overnight and showed up at 7 p.m. they refused to make food. The next day I couldn't eat inside, I had to take away, I had to take two sets for the previous day, the takeaway menu is great, you have 5 dishes to choose from. I decided to try the tenderloin + chicken breast with fries, salad - €15 + schnitzel with fries, salad - €17, I paid an extra €2, but when I travel and eat in restaurants, I have never had such a small one and with burnt breading, the schnitzel was NOT RECOMMENDED. Начнём с оплаты! Стоит паркинг 20 евро и дают лист в формате А4))) на 15 евро. Брал на этот ваучер шницель с картошкой фри если бы не напомнил про салат то просто не Дали доплатил 1.75евро и так всем коллегам которые делали заказ,))) Шницель маленький сухой картошки фри очень мало, а про салат это просто ужас такое ощущение что он неделю в помойке лежал (((.
