Koffie met een BITE — Restaurant in Nissewaard

It was my son’s birthday and we planned a picnic outdoors, it started pouring rain so we walked into this cafe we had never gone to before. I apologized to the employees and did everything I could to keep the kids from disrupting the business but we sat outside on purpose and they are 5-7 yr olds so you cannot expect them to sit for an hour. We were there from 1345-1520 and we were finishing up and about to leave when the owner walked up to the table and scolded me for not “booking a feestje.” I was confused about her disgruntled manner but I apologized about the misunderstanding and said I had spoken to no less than 3 of the employees when I arrived and nobody had told me there was a problem as we had ordered one drink per child and a few pieces of cake (overly sweet, dry and overpriced might I add) I tried to shut it down, politely apologized again and said we would be going soon. That wasn’t enough.

She rages on and on for over 10 minutes about how she is the owner and this is not normal and how she doesn’t think she should have to speak with me in English when we are IN HOLLAND and the children are now anxious and the atmosphere is unsettling. This is when I started to feel attacked and picked up my phone to film and she shouted PACK YOUR THINGS AND GO. By the way I’m a refugee here by the way. I left domestic violence, currently living in a vrouwenopvang and became disabled from trauma and was unable to properly learn Dutch even though I tried and took lessons for over a year. I suffer from brain fog and chronic pain from fibromyalgia and endometriosis. The owner was out of line, rude and racist and unhinged for accusing me of taking up space for 4 hours hahaha what in the world was she thinking. Honey check the camera we were not even there for 1.5.

Hysterical owner really scared my son and his friends and we will not be recommending her place of business to anyone and we will certainly not be returning. If she had a problem she should have taken it up with her employees and spoken with me in a civilized manner instead of causing a scene in front of children who didn’t do anything wrong. 0/10 would not recommend. Racism in 2025?...

Wat een fijne ontdekking: Koffie met een Bite! Deze gezellige en sfeervolle lunchroom is een ideale plek voor zowel een snelle koffie met iets lekkers als voor een uitgebreide lunch. Of je nu kiest voor een thee of een romige cappuccino met een heerlijk gebakje erbij, je zit hier altijd goed. De menukaart is verrassend gevarieerd, met originele gerechten die je niet snel ergens anders in de omgeving tegenkomt. Wij kozen voor de ‘Crushed Avocado’ – een royaal gerecht dat we besloten te delen. Wij gaven aan dat we dit gerecht gingen delen. Zonder dat we daarom hoefden te vragen, werd het keurig op twee borden geserveerd. Dat noemen we nog eens topservice! Ook tijdens de lunch was de bediening uiterst attent. Direct bij het serveren werd gevraagd of we nog iets wilden drinken, wat we erg prettig vonden. Halverwege werd nog even geïnformeerd of alles naar wens was – en dat was het zeker. Wat verder opviel: het eten is smaakvol bereid, zonder overdreven gebruik van kruiden of zout. Erg fijn dat er wél zout op tafel staat, zodat je zelf kunt kiezen wat je toevoegt. Dat laat zien dat er wordt meegedacht met de gast. De inrichting is met zorg en gevoel voor sfeer samengesteld. Je verwacht het niet direct van buitenaf, maar eenmaal binnen voelt het warm, stijlvol en verrassend huiselijk aan. Kortom: een dikke 10 voor de sfeer, de service én de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding. Of je nu snel een koffie wilt drinken voor je de metro pakt, of uitgebreid wilt lunchen of ontbijten – hier...
