Merry Gold — Restaurant in Noordenveld

I recently ordered food from Merrygold Chinese takeaway restaurant in Roden and was again extremely impressed with the overall experience.

The staff is always incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was delivered on time and was still warm when it arrived, which is always a plus.

I decided to go for the menu of the month and was delighted with the selection of dishes. The mini loempia and Pisang Goreng were both delicious and packed with flavor. The Babi Pangang was a standout dish, with a perfect balance of flavors and a nice crispy texture. The Foe Yong Hai was also a great choice, with a tasty egg and tomato sauce, and a variety of vegetables. The Kung Po Kai was a great option for those who like a bit of spicy food.

All in all, the food was very well-priced, and without a lot of flavor enhancer.

The Big Nasi goreng was also fantastic, I was impressed with the generous portion of meat and vegetables in it. The overall taste was very good with the right level of spiciness, and the rice was cooked perfectly.

As an Italian, every time I travel abroad I'm concerned about the food standard of the restaurants I try. I have to admit I've been impressed with Merry Gold. First of all, you can clearly see how the place has been recently renovated: it's modern and cozy at once, with beautiful furniture and pleasant background music. I came here cause some locals told me I could find some decent Chinese food, but I was happy to find sushi too (delicious by the way). Wij zijn hier met 2 personen gaan eten. De zeer strakke website en de prijzen van het eten gaf ons het idee dat het een zeer goed restaurant was. Helaas bleek dat iets minder waar. Wij hadden via de website gereserveerd, bij aankomst bleken wij niet op de lijst te staan. (Ik heb de bevestiging wel in de mail). Maar de dame gaf aan dat dat niet erg was want het was toch niet druk vandaag.

Eenmaal een plekje uitgezocht zag het restaurant er prachtig uit. Wij hadden een prima plek. Het concept kende wij nog niet, maar moest ruim een half uur wachten op de kaart en verdere uitleg. Mijn vriendin had een cocktail besteld, een amaretto sour voor €9,60, maar die was zeer klein en smaakte totaal niet naar een amaretto sour. Eenmaal de uitleg van hoe het eten/bestellen gekregen te hebben waren wij zeer benieuwd naar het eten. Helaas was dit ook een teleurstelling. Het was niet vies maar wel heel simpel en dat voor €40,90 per persoon (voor 5 kleine gangen) is best fors. Het wordt prachtig opgediend maar het is verder niks bijzonders. Wat wij ook opvallend vonden was dat toen wij een 7up bestelde er werd gezegd dat dat niet kon omdat deze uitverkocht was.

Wij gaan best regelmatig uiteten en kwamen dit restaurant tegen. Door de uitstraling van het restaurant, reviews en strakke website hadden wij iets meer verwacht voor dit geld. Het is niet vies maar voor geweldige avond/eten moet je niet hier zijn. Een review over de toetjes kan ik niet geven want die hebben wij niet meer besteld.
