As a big foodie in the Amsterdam area, Poterne had been on my restaurant list for a while. When we arrived, we found the restaurant entrance with the bar really beautiful and we were excited to eat here. Unfortunately that’s where anything positive stops. I thought this was a high end restaurant but they just had a very basic cafe menu. We asked for some bread to start, the bread tasted like it was bought at the supermarket. My friend ordered a soup to start which was bland and seemed to come from a can. We then both ordered the burger with cheese. I can honestly say this is probably the worst burger I’ve eaten. When it first arrived the meat was almost raw. We let them know that it was not edible and they said they’d take care of it. The burgers came back 10min later and had clearly just been put in an oven or grill to heat more. They were still cut in half (see picture). At this point I was so hungry I forced myself to eat some of it but the flavours were also very bad and the cheese rubbery. The bun was advertised as a brioche bun and again this just looked and stayed like a bad supermarket bun. My friend couldn’t eat it. We let the staff know but they still charged us for the burgers and just comp’ed us a coffee. Such a disappointing experience. Especially when the grounds are so beautiful. Will not...

We were there yesterday. We sat down at 8.30 pm. There were less than 10 people in the restaurant, most of them were already served.
We ordered a degustation of 4 different starters to share (nice). Then the burger, always to share.
The burger was nice and well presented. However, we had to wait 20+ min after finishing our starters. And after so much wait, the burger was served lukewarm at best. Such a pity!
I wished to complain there, but no one came close to our table after the burger was served. As I didn't want to lose any more Spa time we just left.
When paying, the staff asked how everything was. I answered honestly: everything was great, but the burger was served cold! They didn't...
Read moreWe had been regulars at the spa and thought we'd give the restaurant a try. When we inquired at the spa if we could dine, they mentioned it was a quiet day and we could likely have dinner. Arriving at the restaurant, it was deserted, and the atmosphere felt chilly. Opting for multiple appetizers and a bottle of wine, we expressed uncertainty about our order and suggested additional drinks and snacks to warm up the vibe. However, the staff seemed unhelpful, steering us towards an empty bar or an uncomfortable corner. The lack of warmth and professionalism made us feel unwelcome. While we wish the restaurant the best, we won't be spending our money there again unless there's a change in how guests are...
