Snackbar de Pinguin — Restaurant in Schiedam

I'm an outsider here - I stay sometimes in the neighborhood to cat-sit. But, I just love this place.

First, the people running it are just the nicest. So friendly and with a great vibe. Probably partly because of that, the customers also have a nice vibe. It feels really part of the local community.

Go for the grote loempia! (The big spring roll). It's homemade and delicious. Almost like an Asian burrito (with a side of fries it's quite filling). Great with the accompanying sambal.

Makes me look forward to my next...

Most snackbars are completely complacent, happy to serve flaccid oily excuses for fried and some standard store bought snacks. Not here. Extremely hard working friendly service, serving up crispy fries and special snacks. Try their homemade loempia, and you'll taste their real meat filling for sure. Definitely worth their many "best snackbar" prizes they've earned...

There is a very good reason why De Pinguin was considered THE BEST snack restaurant in South Holland, it is simply greeaaaat :) from the food to the people working there, that is considerably the point that set apart from all other places. The lovely couple is running the snack bar for 25 years, impressive demostration of love...
