Hudson Den Haag Zuid — Restaurant in The Hague

A bit disappointed. The website looked promising and the (all you can eat) "Barn Tasting" for dinner looked like a tasteful adventure. So reserved a table for 4 on a Friday evening. Arrived by car. Parking in front of the building was full, so had to park on an adjoining field, designated as parking. When we walked into the restaurant we found the reception pedestal unmanned. Accosted a waiter and he told me somebody would be there in a minute. The guy came and he then confirmed our reservation and took us to our table on the ground floor. Interior of the restaurant is as on the website, although a bit less "warm" in lighting. Our table looked nice: 1 large leather sofa, a wooden table and two comfortable seats facing the sofa. A very bubbly, friendly waitress then came to take our drinks order and to explain how the barn tasting concept works. She was hard to understand unfortunately because music was blurting out of a speaker that was mounted overhead about 9 feet up and pointing downward. That proved to be a continued nuisance throughout the evening because it was hard to have a conversation. Food you have to get yourself from a central area where food is prepared by various cooks. Basically several different "cuisines": potatoe dishes, fish, Italian(?), meat (the butcher) and Asian. Each cuisine has a few dishes you can order, which the cooks then will prepare. Then a salad bar, a fruit / dessert bar and sushi in a corner, just to the right of the entrance. Only the drinks you can order from the waitresses/waiters. Getting your food proved to be time consuming: you often had to wait in line before you could order and then of course you had to wait for the food to be prepared. This resulted in people spending a lot of time away from the table, which does not contribute to a sense of having a nice evening out together. The food itself is prepared without love, on automatic pilot. In general the taste is a bit bland. Annoying as well was the fruit and salad bar often running out of fruits /salads and it taking too long to get them refilled. Soft ice machine was out of order. Getting a waiter's attention to order more drinks also tests your patience. So the concept is far from ideal. Would be better if you could order the various dishes from a menu at the table, either digitally or through a waitress, and then have the dishes brought...

Awful place, awful service, we definitely don't recommend it. We made an online reservation for 15:00-18:00. The reservation was for 4 adults and we also had 2 toddlers. We arrived at the restaurant (2 adults and the kids), there was no one there to give us our table so we went in and sit next to the play area. Someone saw us when we sit and came for the order and told us that we will need to leave the table at 17:00 because they need it for another reservation. We accepted it and sit. We ordered our drinks and some bites and we were waiting for our friends to order some food. Our friends arrived a few minutes before 16:00. The waitress was extremely rude when she came to take their order and she refused to bring us food because she said that between 15:00 and 17:00 they do not serve food. Our friends ordered a Cola and a juice and they were waiting for a very long time for their order and when they received it the waitress was rude again. She came again at 16:48 to ask us if we want anything else, we proceeded to order again some drinks but she responded that we will need to leave within 12 minutes. My husband showed her the reservation confirmation and told her that even if we do not sit at this table we should have a table till 18:00 but the response was that they are fully booked from 17:00 but she will ask her manager. She came back to us saying that they can give us a stand to sit after 17:00. All this time the waitress was extremely rude! We decided to leave and 17:00 and for sure we will not come back. Other than the above story, the place wasn't very clean, the kid's area wasn't clean the food was mediocre but the worst was that they told us that they have a changing table at the ladies toilet but they only had a table so I had to change my son’s diaper on the table as you can see at the attached photo. Worst customer experience I've ever had in my life.

For a restaurant that is supposed to be respectable to hire such terrible management is a complete disaster.

We (6 families with kids) had a terrible incident today 30th of October 2021 where we received a receipt of almost 500 euros with a duplicate item for the chicken teriyaki of around 15 euros, so we requested for this to be omitted as it wasn't ordered and we haven't had it, the waiter reached to the manager for this where her reaction was shockingly ridiculous stating that we must pay for it or she'll call the police !! We asked her to do so as we weren't going to pay for something that we haven't ordered by any means.

And clearly money is not our concern here - I think our cheque was one of the top ones on this night for this place.

Trying to discuss the situation further, that - absolutely terrible manager - started to insult us in a very disrespectful & unprofessional way (not even caring that we have children with us) and then she cowardly ran away and disappeared leaving us to the management of the place which tried to comfort the situation.

We asked them for her to apologize for us for the insult and the terrible experience yet they said she left the place and went home already (which is an example of how the management of this place is a catastrophe.)

I would hope this review reaches the owners of this place so they'd know about the bunch of aggressive amateurs they have to...
