We have been in this area a lot, but never stayed at this hotel. It is a peaceful area, except of course at the weekends where people come here for boat tours, to rent small boats for the day, to cycle or walk or just to have a coffee and cake. We arrived early but still could check into our room which was very nice. We had a small sitting area looking out to the water, but the view was mostly blocked by a large boat and later on by a charter boat as well. We did not really expect that. The room is very spacious and airy. It was not very quiet as the hotel was quite full. In the evening we had dinner there and thankfully had already booked a nice table with a view upon arrival. The meal was nicely presented and very good. We like the Frisian style of serving the side orders in little dishes so you can help yourself. We had the filet of lamb accompanied by the stew of lamb which was really good. The staff were being kept very busy as the restaurants were full, but they managed admirably. ||Breakfast was nothing to write home about. We expected a larger buffet with more of a variety, especially we who enjoy having fruit and yogurt for breakfast. The hotel must have been full and with such a lot of people wanting coffee, one machine produces a very long queue. The staff are very friendly and efficient.||All in all, nice stay with a few possible...
Read moreNice spot to watch all the boats go by. We came here because we saw that people had mentioned they had good vegan options… they don’t actually. The vegan option came with eggs on it.
Im allergic to eggs so asked for a new one. I got a lot of attitude for asking for a new one to the point I felt the need to show him my epipen to prove I’m allergic and it’s an issue. They just took the egg off and brought the same plate back out.
I asked two more people and in 5min they brought a “new one out” which was cold and with mayonnaise (made from eggs). So I was not able to eat my meal because I did not feel safe that anyone was taking allergies seriously.
My partners burger was also very underwhelming. Cold chips and soggy burger.
Feels like the kind of place that no one cares about the food or experience or the health and safety of their guests.
This was confirmed when I tried to talk to them while paying. Absolutely outrageous to make someone pay full price for a meal they can’t eat because it contains things in it they are seriously allergic to.
Avoid at all costs - especially if you have any food...
Read moreThe changes that were made to the building have been taken away the charm of this once beautiful hotel. Of course this is a long time ago; yet that is plenty of time to make the service knowledgable, engaging, friendly, effective and efficient.||One of the POS's of Princenhof is the massive outdoor cafe. Half of it is closed, the other half is dirty and disorganized .||AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN AT A PLACE WHERE YOU NEED TO GO TO THE FRONT DESK TO PAY FOR JUST COFFE AND APPLE PIE (We were not staying at the Hotel) ......... Does management even realize that giving a tip to a waitress...
