Key West Beachhouse — Restaurant in Utrecht

Good location at a lake, ok food, but terrible service. Honestly hardly ever experienced a place where the service is this bad. Been to this place 5-6 times (for the good location mainly) and every time it's the same chaos. There's constant miscommunication among the waiters, food takes ages to get to you (on some occasions waited for an hour), sometimes one of the group gets their drink within 5 minutes but the others get their drink only 30 min later and its often the wrong drink (when you ask them about it they never have a clue what went wrong, but this has honestly happened almost every time we were there), some waiters are not friendly and rude (not all of them though) and we even had several times where we got the wrong dish brought to us after waiting for an hour, or the same dish being brought to again for no reason after we had already finished it. when we sit there with friends we already start to make jokes beforehand about "what will go wrong this time" and every time sp far it actually has gone wrong :) this place has the potential to be awesome and become one of the best places in the area, with a unique location, but it clearly lacks a good operational manager, experienced waiters and on busy days needs more kitchen personel to be able to deliver orders at least twice as fast. 2 stars because of the...

KEY WEST GOES SOUTH!

I thought I was the quintessential donkey; however, I have tripped over the same stone (more than) twice. After a myriad of less than par experiences at Key West I absent-mindedly found myself sitting at a table yearning for some service. After watching two of the three staff members re-enact their rendition of 'Walk Like an Egyptian' while they were lollygagging behind the bar, I gazed at the third who, for no apparent reason, seemed to be empty handedly 'bear pacing' between the kitchen and the cash register.

My wait would not have been an odd occurrence if patronage was at its height; however, considering I timed my visit outside of peak hours I would have expected service within the first 15 minutes. Tired of watching the staff repeatedly entertain themselves I decided to slip away before the applause. I do not suffer from poinephobia but there are limits.

PROS: Nice venue, dogs allowed, pond view, deck. CONS: Service, lack of vigilance, "entertainment", donkeys

Needless to say I wont return unless the wind blew me in. This is Utrecht after all and there are many more superior venues. Key West has...

Really bad experience!! We ordered the club sandwich: the bread was hard like a stone, but ok... But we also ordered the plank to share, this was really disgusting, we all thought it was made for somebody else before and served to us because everything was like made hours ago... soft and oily... the worst bitterballen i tried (the filling was gone) the “gazpacho” was the worst thing i ever tried really spicy... everything in the plank was just disgusting... the bread with serrano ham liked from days ago... when the waiter came to ask if everything was ok i told him that we were really disappointed with the plank.... it was just not edible... we left everything And it was really expensive (of course they charged it) I really dont recommend it, at least for eating, really bad quality...
