Very disappointed with the treatment received by staff. We were with 4 people, including a small baby. The lady asked us if we wanted to eat. We said we would like to drink and have an ice cream to which she replied that she would not give us a table for that, to go for the takeaway and stay at the beach. There were a lot of tables available and we said that with the baby we would like a table instead. The lady refused and my husband said we were being discriminated. The lady reacted as follows: “ I am discriminating? You are the one with the baby!” I explained that the discrimination had nothing to do with the baby but because you were being refused a table because we would not be having dinner. Then the lady changed the reasoning, started speaking louder and said:” Sir, it is 45deg in the kitchen, we cannot accept more people, we would expect your understanding.... Shocked with this behaviour....Decided to walk a few hundred meters north and ended up going to the following restaurant “ Brooklyn beach”. Perfect staff, nice environment. Will definitely comeback to Brooklyn beach!
Reply: “Discrimination occurs when you are treated less favourably than another person in a similar situation and this treatment cannot be objectively and reasonably justified.”
Considering that the staff would be willing to give us a table if we wanted to have dinner and this changed when this was not the case, I would say that we were being treated different and with no reasonable justification.
In any case as much I appreciate the lesson in civil rights, the points are:
-Yes, we were treated differently. A table would be available for dinner but that changed once that was not the case. You state we had been offered a table on the beach terrace instead. If so, why would we refuse it, and make such a review? That makes no sense! -No, your colleague didn’t try to explain, she started speaking louder trying to make us look like we were forcing the people in the kitchen working further under 45C, when in our case, our order would exclude kitchen service. I chose to say that i didn’t want to go into further discussion (this when your colleague started speaking very loud) If, like you say, only the tables with reservations would be allowed, strange we were never asked if we had a reservation.
Quite an interesting reply, this is no longer about giving different treatment to people (not deep enough pockets 😉), instead rude clients that do not understand what your staff is going through.
Like I said, clearly you were willing to provide us a table if we would have dinner. Why not just put on a board saying, we only serve dinners? For drinks and ice creams (what we wanted), only take away. Because that was what we were told... Than it is very clear where you stand 😉.

Nosotros pedimos el menú para ahorrar algo de dinero, costo 28 euros y comimos dos personas, aunque los mejillones no estaba incluidos en el menú nos permitieron pedirlo, y estaban deliciosos, luego puedes pedir una hamburguesa, carne, pescado de segundo. Nosotros pedimos las costillas, que aunque estaban buenas las prefiero sin salsa. Además pedimos unas ostras para probarlas puesto que está zona es típico. Mi marido y yo no bebemos cerveza y la que pedimos (foto) nos gustó, porque estaba un poco fuerte pero no amarguea tanto como las de España.
