Hof Sypesteyn — Restaurant in Wijdemeren

Slow service, small sizes, bland food. Me and my girlfriend have went there for the high tea arrangement ( it was called Jonkvrouw Agaatje arrangement). Since we know it takes a while to prepare we ordered some cold drinks and enjoyed the sun a bit. But after 45 minutes we haven't received anything, not even the attention of the waiters. Btw it was not very busy. We have been sitting on the terrace and maybe 3 other tables were occupied. Anyway, after waiting for 45 minutes we ordered coffee. Also that took 20 minutes to be served. The first round of the high tea arrived more than an hour after we ordered. It consisted of a couple of Dru sandwiches and some other things (see photo). All tasted dry and bland. The size was also meager so we decided to order some soup as extra. It took at least another 40 minutes for the soup to arrive and it tasted like a dry, packaged soup you would get from a supermarket. After almost 50 minutes after the first high tea course we received the second one with the sweets and cakes. That round was much richer and tastier than the first savoury round.

While waiting for food and drinks we had to get up and get attention of the waiters. There have been two waiters walking around while only 4 tables have been occupied. It really did not make any sense that they did not tend to the guests and their orders. One waiter even spilled our soup. That is not a big deal. But what was annoying that he did not get any napkin to clean it. I has to get up and get it myself from the bar.

Based on that experience and bland food I would not recommend that restaurant despite the beautiful location it is...

Wat een prachtige locatie is Hof Sypesteyn, toen ik en mijn verloofde naar plaatsen zochten om te trouwen viel ons oog direct op Sypesteyn. De prachtige tuinen achter het kasteel vonden wij zo ontzettend mooi, en de mensen die er werken waren ontzettend behulpzaam en aardig. Wij wisten het toen gelijk, hier gaan wij trouwen.

Samen met Cas hebben wij meerdere keren afgesproken om alle details door te nemen van de bruiloft, er werden ook open trouwroutes georganiseerd waar er meerdere leveranciers aanwezig waren om kennis te maken. Dit was voor ons erg fijn, want op die manier hoef je niet op zoek naar elke individuele leverancier!

Alle voorzieningen die wij graag wilden waren aanwezig, we hebben de ceremonie in de appelboomgaard kunnen houden met het kasteel op de achtergrond. Het diner wilde wij ook in de tuin doen maar daar werd het te koud voor, dus konden we gelukkig naar binnen toe waar er een prachtige diner zaal was.

Er is nog zo veel meer te vertellen over deze prachtige plek, ik kan het alleen maar aanraden om Sypesteyn te bezoeken en zelf mee te maken. Wij hebben hier een onvergetelijke dag gehad.

What a find. One can enjoy the terrace (depends on the opening hours and days) having a drink, coffee, a snack or meal next to a castle. Great service, great atmosphere. One can too walk the castle park (for a small fee) enjoy the beauties surrounded or visit the castle (subject to prearranged timing). Recommend to visit on...
